We have stayed in many hostels throughout the years and this was by far the most expensive we paid for what we've got. Good side: the location was very convenient, as we could walk anywhere and it was pretty safe. Loads of restaurants nearby. A public parking garage is super close too. The room was clean and check-in instruction were very precise. Customer service was good and responsive. Bad side: Too expensive for a room with shared bathroom.. Be ready to sweat. NO air conditioner on the second floor, which during the hot days of Summer, it is hotter than outside. And sometimes not a single breeze would go by. The room fan is not enough for hot days. There was 1 toilet and 1 shower for the whole floor, not sure if other rooms had their own bathrooms, but the shower was dirty and the water basically dripped, so you want to refresh after a hot day, but leave the shower sweating again. (Also, it wouldn't be too much of an investment to add a couple hooks there...)

I'm not one to normally leave reviews, but this is likely the worst property I have ever stayed at in ~20 years of consistent traveling. My room looked nothing like the photos on the website. The bulbs from the ceiling light had been removed, and there was just one small lamp in the corner. The room had damage to the walls and furniture throughout. Part of one wall was still drywall and unfinished. The door itself had a significant gap, even when locked, so it could be easily pried open. The room itself reached temperatures of 34 degrees, and the only window opened directly onto the fire escape, which meant that if you choose to open the window, anyone could climb into your room. The room was cleaned only once in 5 days. The shower had no hot water. The bathroom was broken. Yes, it is one of the cheapest options in the city, but they still wanted to charge $200 for my last night.

No outside window. Too hot!
Room no 2 has NO OUTSIDE windows and no ventilation. Too hot and moisture smelling. A simple table fan is not enough. Should not be rented in summer at all. I did not expect much but such a flaw shold be clearly mentionned. Other rooms had nice windows. Showers need improvement. Otherwise check-in was great.
Fixed window , not openable, gives view to a cafeteria.

Ok for a quick break sir, but not in the summer!
The hostel location is fabulous, in the old city and near tourist attractions, bars and restaurants. The downside is the lack of air conditioning and the dinginesss of the room. You can do better.

If you are just looking for a place to rest your eyes for a night or two and you're used to hostel culture, this is a fine choice! Great location, walkable area. However, the quality of the room and bathrooms were quite poor compared to other hostels I have been in. Definitely not a modern, renovated hostel environment so I don't recommend it for longer stays.

It was so bad we literally had to leave and buy a hotel room for the night. It was so beyond quiet you could hear a pin drop. The heater didn’t work in our room and we were freezing. The check in guy was unfriendly and yelled at me when I couldn’t find the instructions to get into the building. I never received any check in information or the key code to get into the door.

For where we were located and the price, Le 402 was a great option. We had our own private room with a gorgeous window and it was enough for the two of us. We were also able to keep our luggage stored past our check out, which was very helpful. We weren’t warned in advance, until approximately 24 hours prior, that there would be 2 steep sets of staircases to go up/down. We had heavy suitcases and a warning in advance would’ve been nice, especially because we might have had mobility needs and this wouldn’t be accessible. As well, while we mostly could come and go as we pleased, on the last day we were consistently bothered by the host to give a good review, and he knocked on our door at 10am to remind us that check out was at 11, even though we’d already received reminders via the Expedia messages and had indicated that we received that information. Over all, we had a great time, and 3 nights was the perfect amount of time to stay!
