Booked a night here as a base for a quiet birthday weekend away in May. We are a couple in our 40s with an 8 year old boy. The good points were the quiet room with lovely patio overlooking the golf course and nice quality toiletries. The bar had some nice drinks and is nicely decorated. The staff were friendly (apart from one issue). There was a great choice at breakfast and it was good quality, pastries excellent quality, coffee pretty standard. The pool was great for kids. And such a good hotel when they cater for such a wide mix of people, I love being around a mix of ages. Couple of things they could have done better - They really could have told us on check-in about the hotel being full of people on coventions and what the conventions are for - as I kept getting mistaken for being party of one of the groups...odd. Secondly, when you book a room with breakfast, and you enter the breakfast room and get greeted by the host, its ruins the experience if the lady greeting you then questions if you really did have breakfast booked there. And also then its not very polite to passive aggressively scribble over their paperwork with a snide sideways look, as if to communicate that she didn't believe us. That put us on edge the whole time eating our breakfast, ruined our birthday birthday too and we couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Seems that half the rooms have been updated and half have been forgotten. The room we had was severely outdated, for the price per night in peak seasons I would not expect the rooms to be from the 90’s. Bar staff were beyond terrible. Don’t want to be mean but I waited 25 minutes for a bucket of ice and all they could do was shrug their shoulders.

Quite simply an awful stay
Awful view and dated decor. Bathroom was mouldy and smelt of musky water. Beds were so uncomfortable and pillows lumpy. Receptionist was rude and blunt when checking in. Gym was too busy and pool was at full capacity all afternoon. Breakfast was terrible with no pastries and the tables were dirty. Would never stay again
