GREAT AREA, Safe, No Crime! Sleeps 8 or 16 with the rental of second half of house (see vrbo# 402412). This is two, 4 bedroom homes in Arabi. Arabi is in St. Bernard Parish (County). Arabi has a superior law enforcement that does not tolerate crime. When you stay in Arabi, you can go enjoy all of the fun things that New Orleans has to offer, but you return to sleep in Arabi without any worries of someone breaking into your house or car. Also, you can safely walk the streets at night in this neighborhood. Don't take a chance. Have a crime free vacation by staying at this house!

This is a beautifully restored home 3.5 miles from the French Quarter. Very safe neighborhood. Plenty of Parking. Also, very close to a boat launch which offers the best fishing in the country. Stay an extra day or two. Bring a boat or charter a fishing captain and go fishing.

The house has 4 king beds. There are 3 full baths and a half bath. We completed remodeling the house in February 2020. Next door is a another house with 4 king beds and 3.5 baths. We completed remodeling the second house in 2015. We have central air and heat and a washer/dryer in the house. The house has a pergola with table and chairs and a nice side porch with table and chairs. The front porch is a nice place to sit in the afternoons with sun setting behind the house. From the porch, or a 2 block walk to the river, you can watch the cruse liners, paddle boats and cargo ships go up and down the Mississippi river. This is Southern relaxation at it's best. The French Quarter is 10-15 minutes away.

My daughter, friends and I were in town for Taylor Swift and stayed in Larry’s property over the weekend. It was amazing stay! Plenty of room, clean and in a great neighborhood. Larry is very responsive. Definitely would stay here again on future trips!

Location and accommodations spot on
Conveniently located FQ. Plenty of space for group. Parking was good. Behind the house. NEEDS REPAIRS: FRONT & BACK DOORS HUGE GAPS, doors need to be sealed. Rain was coming in like crazy at back door, had to put several large towels around door. It wasn’t good. could slip.(previously reported) back door needs better lock. Has a hanging chain, but no hook. DID NOT feel safe. NO AMENITIES! No bars of soap in shower. I brought K pods for coffee/toilet paper. No dish washer detergent or pods. Should have enough dishwasher pods for the guest’s length of stay. Cooked breakfast each morning. Nothing to clean the counters with. TOWELS/SHEETS/PILLOWS old. NO COASTERS! 1st floor bedroom, where should I begin, tub/shower is CLOGGED. you take a shower in ankle deep water. No safety bars. This bedroom SMELLS BAD. I thought it was musty. BUT it is MOLD. There’s an oscillating fan in there probably due to mold. Look at the ceiling, you’ll see it. But you’ll def smell it! When you walk in back door, you get a whiff of it.. BAD FOR health. bathroom door 1st floor bedroom, handle is broken. same bedroom has smoke detector BUT detector just has electrical wires hanging down. The showers! hot is cold & cold is hot. hot really isn’t hot. should be in the details/description that everything was reversed. Chair is BROKEN IN LIV RM, previously reported. Prev reported items from other guests should have been repaired. I wouldn’t stay here again. mold/smell/doors/no basic amenities

Arabi House
We all really enjoyed our stay. My only suggestion would be to have a list of instructions such as any helpful instructions like garbage collection, how dirty bedding should be handled and any suggestions on where to eat in the neighborhood. All the VRBO's that we have stayed at previously have some sort of guidance on what condition we should leave the property in.

Great Time In NOLA
My family and friends had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful home. Not far from the French Quarter. The neighborhood was quiet and quaint. The home had PLENTY of space for all of us. There were a couple of hiccups during our stay, but Mr. Landry was quick to resolve any issues. He even stopped by to check on us and made sure that everything was good. Well, Mr. Landry, we are still talking about our stay there. So much so that we plan on coming back to NOLA next year for the food, fun and southern hospitality!!!

Perfect Location! Great host!
This house and location was just what we were looking for! Three teens had their own room. Never waited more than 10 min for an Uber and ride into NO was about 10-15 min. Mr. Landry was very responsive and showed up to fix a chirping smoke detector when we arrived. Plenty of room to eat and watch tv. Bring K cups for coffee. The first couple of nights were cold and the downstairs was quite drafty so bring an extra sweater and fuzzy socks if you get cold! As others have mentioned, hot and cold are reversed on faucets. If you plan to cook, may want to bring some Measuring cups, bowls, knife and cookie/ baking sheet. Not a lot of provisions but most folks don’t come to NO to cook, so wasn’t a big deal to us, but these are things I like To know. We felt very safe here. A must see is sunset behind the city at the Miss River just blocks from the house. We and several others sat and watched the sun set. Conseco Market very near the house has great take and eat options. Get some donuts at Gerard’s. My hubby recommends the Maple Bacon! The Arabi Food market was closed so we didn’t get to try that spot. The home was clean, plenty of linens provided. Would highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Mr Landry for your hospitality!

Didn't work out as planned
First of all, this is the week that the tornado hit this area but only the power was knocked out. Started off with a strong paint smell in the bedroom. No big deal I figured, I would just sleep with the window cracked even though it was going down to the upper 40’s. Got in bed at night and realized that there was only a sheet and no blanket in the bedroom in this house, so I had to close the window and all of us had to sleep in a sweatshirt and clothes. Now the power. The owner lives nearby and did hook up a generator the day after the tornado. We were considering leaving but he said he thought the power would be back up the next day. Generators are very loud and 3 bedrooms were right next to the generator which made sleep very difficult. 2 people had medical devices that needed power so the generator needed to stay on. On top of that, for whatever reason multiple smoke alarms started beeping at 3:30 am so obviously no sleep the first night. When asked about the power the next day he said it should be going back on that day. When asked about fixing the smoke alarms so they wouldn’t beep all night his response was “there is a ladder in the closet”. Wait what???? I said some of ceilings were 12’ high with a 4' ladder and asked him to take care of them. Of course, no power that night and he did nothing with the smoke alarms so they started beeping at 4 am. One person had to sleep on the couch in the other house the rest of the time, one basically said he just drank so much that he could get a few hours sleep and I only got another couple hours of sleep. Same story, I was told power should be back on and I took down some smoke alarms. No power that night, other smoke alarms were beeping and again no sleep. I have afib and 3 days of no sleep put me in a prolonged afib attack and I had to buy a ticket home and cut my trip short to get my heart under control. I get the tornado was not his fault but when asked about a credit for putting up with these conditions the response was “come on back next year and I will give you a good deal”. Yeah, no. Most people are nice when everything is going good, you see someone’s true colors when things go wrong.

Not the best, not the worst
A group of friends and I stayed at Larry's property while spending the weekend in New Orleans. No check-in information is provided except the door code. There's plenty of room, and the beds were comfy. There is a coffee maker but when we arrived, there was only one k-cup coffee pod (we ended up buying our own pods to use while staying.) Finally, there were bugs everywhere – huge flies, dust mites, etc. that made the stay feel a little less clean. They seemed to be coming in from a broken window downstairs, so I imagine this isn't how it normally is. Little things aside, Larry is easy to reach and quick to respond, and the area was in a great location. Really only docking stars for the tedious things you just don't expect with a vacation rental.
