Everything was adequate. I did not get maid service during my stay and the elevators are problematic. Too many guests and way too few elevators. I had to wait 10 minutes to get on an elevator during non peak time. My room was clean and comfortable.

When I checked in for my stay (at 3:05 pm), I was told that my room was not ready because housekeeping had not yet cleaned it. I was told to wait and would be notified when the room was ready. After waiting for one hour with no word about my room, I returned to the front desk and was then told my room was ready. It was their responsibility to let me know and not for me to have to ask. Also, the elevator situation is not acceptable. Waiting time for an elevator was long. In fact, after waiting on my floor 20 minutes for the elevator, I finally walked down the stairs from my room on the 14th floor.

The plumbing is awful, and it wasn’t just in my room. When you turn the water to hot in the shower, it sounds like there’s construction happening. If you’re hoping for a warm shower, don’t count on it—sometimes only cold water comes out, even with the faucet fully turned. The bathroom had a barn door, the walls were thin, and there was a strong smell of weed. There are 4 small elevators, but if you’re on a higher floor and need to get somewhere quickly, be prepared to take the stairs or wait several minutes during busy times. On the bright side, the room was clean, and the location is great, but the issues with the plumbing, elevators, smell and barn doors would keep me from staying here again.

The staff was really nice. We arrived at 12 noon and they let us get our room early. It's an older hotel so it's not as updated but the best part is they had a laundry center so we could do our clothes and they had a great bar and restaurant Empire Steakhouse and Bar. It's a very good location but not glamorous.

GREAT location - SUPERB room
This was our first visit to NYC, and we wanted a hotel that was close to everything. That might sound impossible, but for us the Hilton Garden Inn/New York/Central Park South-Midtown West was ideally situated. The staff was friendly, prompt, and a pleasure to deal with. The room was clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our visit and highly recommend this hotel. Close to Central Park, theaters, Times Square, and Ellen’s Stardust Diner. What a great place!

The hotel has an excellent location, the maids did their job very well, the hotel needs to change its carpets both in the rooms and in the hallways, it looks run down for a Hilton.
