LOCATION: This hotel is about a block from Central Park. I felt safe walking around the area. A few restaurants located within a block or two. EXPERIENCE: Our room was freezing. There was a window air conditioner/heater that blew cold air constantly. This must be a known problem because there was a portable electric heater in the room as well. The electric heater did not work well and took a long time to barely warm up. We had to ask the front desk for additional blankets. The bathroom door is a frosted shower door, so there is no privacy when using the restroom or taking a shower. This breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast, but the staff in this area were kind and helpful. SAFTEY: When we came back to the hotel around 7:00pm the room next to ours had been broken into. The key pad had been completely ripped of the door and smashed to pieces on the ground, and the door had been kicked in. My husband went to the front desk, and they had no idea anything had happened. An employee had him walk him to the room. and indicated he’d call the police. After about 15 minutes my husband called the front desk to be sure the employee had come back down and called the police. He was concerned about the employee going into the room after he left. The front desk explained the employee never came back to the desk, and the police had not been called. He assured us he’d deal with it. To our knowledge the police never came. We never got any updates.

The hotel is in excellent location, the subway station is 2 min walk. The rate includes hot breakfast, which is good. The rooms are small but we are in NYC, so is normal. However, the room service can improve a little. But if you are going only to sleep is a good choice.

Cost Effective
We got what we paid for. Complementary breakfast was simple but so nice to have each morning and saved us so much money for breakfast. Rooms were really small and elevator was slow so we took the stairs most of the time. They were slow when we called to ask for towels but brought them up when we reminded them. Online pre check in was great and made checking in easy. Definitely could use a renovation as there were stains and chips but we were able to afford staying in New York during Christmas time so it was a win.

I called before hand to check and see if I was allowed to Check in being under 21. They employee said yea and then when I got there I was turned away at 12:30 am and had to walk around in the cold to find another hotel in the middle of the night.

Great location! Very nice hard working staff. Room is tiny. Hall ways are shabby but rooms are nice. Bed was especially comfortable. Free breakfast is perfectly fine. This is a very adequate place to sleep and stay when enjoying new York. We will definitely stay there again. It’s overpriced - but not for New York City!

Great little hotel, heat in our room on the fritz
The rooms were very small but it's in New York City hotel, very clean and great staff at the desk and also very responsive through text messages. The complimentary breakfasthat goes till 10 AM was great and coffee list okay actually. Only complaint was we didn't have heat for the first 3 nights we weretheart but we had an extra blanket and may do and then the heat kicked in on the last night we were there.

Nice Place but there are better
Excellent location in an area with easy access to Central Park and local transportation. Rooms were good for an old hotel but very small as is the custom in NYC. Single elevator access was often tied up by cleaning crews causing up to fifteen minute delays unless walk up 14 floors is in your exercise regimen.

Location great, but that's where it ends
The rooms were old, run down and the windows did not close properly. The bed was comfortable, but the showers were run down, and the wifi did not work at all on the 14th floor. Service staff were good, nothing outstanding. Breakfast room was very small and often difficult to find a table. Also the elevator waiting times were long.

This hotel was a real let-down. The whole place was worn and beaten - skirting boards, carpets, mattresses, shower trays, and sealant were all in poor condition, many with stains. The room didn’t help either; the paint and woodwork were faded and scuffed, and the windows were filthy with signs of mold and a draft from poor sealing. The air was damp, and the air conditioning would make a sudden loud noise waking me up multiple times during the night. The elevator was completely inadequate for the size of the building, taking ages to arrive and always being full - mostly with cleaners and there equipment, making it hard for guests to use. Breakfast was overcrowded and low quality, which made it feel like an afterthought. Privacy was another issue. Staff ignored our “Do Not Disturb” sign and tried to enter the room two hours before check-out without even knocking. To make things worse, the luggage hold was just a random corner in the lobby, which didn’t feel safe for leaving belongings. The final kicker is the hidden facility fee, which was buried in the listing and felt deceptive, a way to make the listing look cheaper on booking sites. When contacting support though Expedia they take ages to reply and didn't answer any of my questions and are now just ignoring me. The only real positive was the huge bed, but honestly, it’s not worth it. I wouldn’t recommend staying here and would avoid at all costs.
