We came to Michigan from Texas for three weeks, looking for cool weather in August. The cottage was supplied with the necessities. We enjoyed reading or having a glass of wine on the patio while watching the river. It was peaceful on weekdays as we watched the loons, eagles and herons. We also enjoyed watching the boaters, kayakers, and jet skiers on the weekends. The hosts could not have been nicer. They were close if you needed something, but not intrusive. While the cabin itself is all on one level, with both a tub and a step in shower, getting down to the cabin from the driveway is probably not for those with mobility issues. If you are staying a while, grocery stores, restaurants and shopping can be found less than 30 minutes from the cabin. There is one cafe almost right around the corner that serves a good breakfast. There is a little playground and shuffleboard court located next door but it sits back so that you don’t see it from the house. You can both swim and fish from the area around the house. While not fancy, it is nicely cared for and can be a fun, comfortable place to hang your hats for a few days.
