We loved our stay at Crown Hibiscus just out of town (Burnt Pine). It was a 10 minute walk into town but everybody has and needs a rental car on Norfolk but this too was seamlessly organised for us. Nothing was a problem for the very friendly staff. Our unit was nicely furnished with modern amenities which we did not expect. Even a picnic back pack was supplied as there are MANY delightful BBQ & picnic settings all around the lovely island and in the knowledge that there are only supplies/shops in town except the fast foods caravan on the beach at Kingston. Take a picnic or BBQ to Puppies Point to watch to sun go down or a swim at Emily Bay or for a few waves, walk down to Anson Bay which despite warnings from the locals, I found it safe.
We quietly looked around other hotels and again found Crown had nice spacious grounds and gardens - unlike many others on town. Most hotels are older builds, even those with more prestigious names...Whilst there are no views which all in town would not have, perhaps glimpses only, Crown was relaxed and very quiet. Frankly it you want views, you will need to book those out of town. Apparently A/C is not available on the island due to diesel power generation, we were surprised the daily temperature (mid January!) was around 25 degrees so A/C was not required but a fan was supplied, which we did not use anyway. No it was not perfect but came close and at an excellent rate. Be prepared for ordinary TV reception so far away from Aus.
