The cottage lies wind-protected and secluded directly behind, and adjacent to, South Australia's only remaining stretch of unadulterated coastal sand-dunes, and was itself until recently, zoned 'conservation'. It has been painstakingly and tenderly renovated and rejuvenated, to bring it's facilities and amenities into current times, whilst retaining the original site, layout and ambience. It lies at the end of a very short cul-de-sac with only two other properties in the street and no passing traffic.
You cannot see the sea from the cottage, but there is no mistaking the envigorating ozone-laden air and the soothing sounds of the ocean and waves... all from your front door. The cottage is also an ideal base from which to explore together with your dog/s - please apply for details of pet stays at time of booking.
The most direct route from the cottage takes about 2 minutes to the beach and brings you out to the north of the jetty, and continuing in this direction gives you miles(about 1.2) of beautiful beach walking thru to Carrackalinga. In the opposite direction, your beach meandering takes you on a 3km(approx) walk to the reef and seabird environs of Lady Bay.
In all seasons, Dunes Cottage provides an ideal base for nature enthusiasts, with ample local interest in the surrounding towns & localities to cater for more citified interests.
At 'home', an outdoor gas BBQ and setting, a well-equipped full electric kitchen with oven and microwave, bath&shower, dining table and chairs, comfortable lounge, good beds, gas heating, airconditioning, ceiling fan, books, magazines, tapes, radio, TV, DVD's, CD's, games, local phone, and fishing rods, ensure that your normal daily needs are well met. Should you strike inclement weather, the thoughtful surrounds of the cottage interior envelop you like a mother's arms banishing all disappointment until sunnier times come again.

The "in-dunes" location of the cottage is as close as you can get to the beach in Normanville without having to use or cross any roads. A small sandy track opposite the cottage leads you through the sand dunes to the beach (2mins).
Taking the 'long' way to the beach, going back to the corner and to Jetty Road leading down to the foreshore, will take you about 10minutes on a slow walk. Similarly, the same walking pace will take you 15 minutes to the main street shops
