Was supposed to be 4 star VIP - would question both of these. 1 - no restaurant! Have to go to the pub next door - but you must book in advance. But didn’t know this and at 6:30pm when we arrived after a 7 hour drive to be told this and that it was full was really annoying 2 - we did try the pub during our stay and food was ok - but not that of a 4 star hotel 3 - fire alarm went off 7 am Saturday morning- no explanation 4 - there is a Spa - we were going to use it Sunday but were told that we’d need to be out of there by checkout time 11am - or we’d be billed extra. First time I’ve heard of a hotel not allowing access to facilities like this 5- there was a wedding on - that’s fine but you had to go through the lounge area to get to the room - and areas of this were set up got the guests - quite embarrassing as it felt like you were intruding. All in all hotel felt tired - and no idea what the VIP privileges were

No hot water despite running the tap for a long time Considering they talk about saving the planet and not washing towels maybe they should consider fixing the hot water so you don’t have to waste it Ran once for over 5 minutes but still nothing

A room that needs a refresh. Stain on the ceiling, paint lifting around the windows. The most alarming point was the missing arm to the door closer making the fire door inop!!

We tried to have dinner at the restaurant, but the head staff member told us that they didn't have enough vegetables. This was at 3:00 in the afternoon. I really didn't understand why they couldn't go and get more. The first night they asked if we had a reservation for dinner, and we said no, and they made out that we were very lucky, as it was early. The restaurant wasn't even one quarter full.

Quaint location near St. Helen's church Escrick. Building shown it's age and could do with extensive refurishment. Lots of noise into the night from reception and bar. No lift. Breakfast could have more options, eg. fruit, Cheeses, cold meats, bread rolls. Lacked variety.
