A peaceful retreat, and lovely owners.
We really like this gite. Peaceful location, perfect for relaxation and local area is pretty with lots of nice villages and scenic drives. The weather is unpredictable, so an upgrade to the indoor seating would be nice for more comfort on rainy days. Overall, it's great!

A perfect holiday
There are so many good things we could say about our stay in this beautiful and peaceful gite. It was our aim to find a quite place to rest and recharge, and we certainly found it here. An excellently well equiped 'home from home', with a warm welcome from Brigitte and Daniel and the best shower you could wish for. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful, quiet gite in lovely area
Had a lovely week in this pretty gite, we very much enjoyed the nearby cows and the absolute peace and quiet. The owners were nearby but not at all intrusive, and very helpful. The gite is ideally situated for visiting lots of nearby towns and places of interest. We visited Arromanches, the DDay beaches and museums, we also loved the nearby towns of Vire and Villedieu-les-Poêles. The gite had everything necessary for a good stay and the beds were very comfortable too. We hope to return in future. Thank you so much.

A peaceful, rural location
This was a lovely, quiet spot. The space downstairs was great, and the bathroom good (especially the shower). The downside was the kitchen - a vast quantity of crockery, cutlery and glassware but little ‘cooking equipment’. A few small saucepans without lids, no baking trays etc. You might also want to bring your own bath towels. Lots of towels provided but absolutely tiny and thin!

Great gite in a beautiful area
The gite was lovely, very clean and had everything we needed in it. It was in beautiful, peaceful surroundings and yet fairly close to a small local town. We had clear directions on how to get to it from the owner and good communication before our stay. I've marked communication as a 4 - purely because we need to improve our french so we could communicate with the owners more!

France in March
We stayed in this wonderful gite for the month of March and it fulfilled all our expectations. It was well equipped, especially the laundry facilities, immaculately clean, lovely and warm and comfortable. It was an ideal location for us to walk into the nearby town of St-Sever and to drive to Vire and Villedieu-des-Poeles. The owners Brigitte and Daniel were very welcoming and helpful and the perfect hosts. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Charming, Clean and Comfortable
Of the many VRBO rentals we have stayed in over the years, this one ranks at the top of the list. It is super-clean and it's clear that Brigitte takes a great deal of pride in making sure that her guests are comfortable. It is located in a very quiet rural setting away from the sightseeing crowds, but in a spot where you can easily access the Normandy beaches, Bayeux and Caen (including the famous Apple Cider route) and Mont Saint Michel. The Gite itself is quite spacious, with a large downstairs kitchen (including a beautiful long table for eating) and sitting/TV area and then two good size bedrooms upstairs with a very modern bathroom. It also has all of the modern advertised amenities. Brigitte is very quick to respond to emails and upon your arrival she shows you where everything is and how everything works. Instructions for things like running the dishwasher and washing machine and dryer are written out, as are directions to a couple of good restaurants and a grocery store and gasoline station which are located nearby. As for directions to the gite, I would urge that you follow Brigitte's written instructions rather than anything your GPS tells you to do. Overall, we can't say enough good things about our stay at Brigitte's place. I doubt that many of the forthcoming rentals that we will be sure to have as we continue to travel will be anywhere as nice as this one.

This Gite is the Best
This is the best Gites we have ever stayed in. It's attractive, very well maintained, both inside and out and outstandingly well equipted. Everything you need and more. The equipment is modern and it all works. Extras like herbs for cooking, hand washing cream, salt, pepper, vinegar and olive oil for the table. Plus a vase of dress cut flowers on the dining table. This all adds up to a very good first impresion. When Brigitte was asked for help or assistance she gave it willingly. Would we recommend it? Without reservation.

Away from it all
Located in the peace and quiet of the countryside, nicely furnished with all the items need ed for total independence. The town of St Sever Calvados is an hours walk away and has a small Carrefour supermarket which has all the necessary items required at reasonable prices. The internet was very slow, kept dropping and could only be accessed by placing yourself in the corner of the gite against the adjoining door to the owners accommodation. This proved a problem when trying to plan our daily forays to the areas of local interest although there are many brochures available in the gite

A superbly restored gîte in a beautiful, tranquil area
The quality of the gîte is excellent both with the decor, furnishings and information. The cleanliness is of the highest standard and it’s completely private with a delightful garden. Brigitte and Daniel have thought of everything to ensure their guests’ comfort. Its position makes it easy to visit a wide range range of place including St Malo. Honfleur and the Normandy Landing beaches. The nearby small town of Villedieu les Poêles is very attractive with a good range of shops and places to eat. For a relaxing break I couldn’t recommend this gîte any more highly. Thank you so much Brigitte and Daniel for a super time.

Spotlessly clean and a real hideaway
We don't normally leave reviews but felt we had to this time. Brigitte and Daniel made us very welcome upon arrival and nice bottle of Calvados cider in the fridge. Beautifully clean and a lovely Gite. If you want total peace with just the birdsong and odd moo from the cows in the nearby pasture then this must not be missed. Watched a woodpecker on this the tree trunk in the back garden pecking the insects......'fascinating' Well worth a visit is Mont St Michel. The nearby village 3km St Sever has a handy Carrefour supermarket and hold most of what you need. We had a walk in the village and on one of the shop windows were photos of the 2nd world war Damage that was inflicted and stories from the residents of how they had to live with the German occupation. Such a short holiday in the Gite (5 days) will try to make it longer next time. Thank you and best regards Brigitte and Daniel and we too need to learn our French !! Brian and Diane

A little Gem
Great communication with the owner started the holiday off very well. The directions to the property were clear and easy to follow. The property was beautifully clean and well appointed. The location was really quiet. The nearby village of St Sever had most of what you would require on a day to day basis. The owners were available if you needed them but not in any way intrusive. A good supply of tourist leaflets were available as well as a couple of maps to use. The location was central to the D Day beaches, le Mont St Michel and St Malo. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this Gite

Beautiful and historic property, superbly equipped
We really loved this place! It's a beautiful old building that has been superbly restored and beautifully finished. It is set in countryside, with open views to front and back. While adjacent to the owner's property, it's very private indeed and we saw very little of the owners. Location-wise, it is equidistant from the Normandy beaches, Mont St Michel and La Suisse Normande. The beds were supremely comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped and pretty much every need catered for. The nearest supermarket is a five minute drive away. WiFi was fast enough, but could only be accessed from one corner of the sitting room. At first arrival, we had great difficulty finding the place and were pleased we had a map to help with navigation rather than relying on SatNav alone. It would have been useful to have received a 'welcome pack' via email in advance of our visit. This is a minor criticism though. It's a brilliant place and tremendously good value for money. I cannot recommend it highly enough

Extremely well appointed and relaxing gite Un sejour tres agreable
Surrounded by peaceful countryside with large windows perfect to take in the views, we had a lovely, restful stay. The stylish spacious layout, well equipped kitchen, large (and warm) shower room, comfortable bedroom, very good lighting and warm welcome from Madame Deslandes make this gite one of the best.

Quiet, picturesque and relaxing
I wanted to visit Normandy but be somewhere quiet and far away from any hustle and bustle. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 5 nights and we both thought it was fantastic. The house is perfect and is really comfy and clean and would easily accommodate 4 people. Perfect for a relaxing break. The scenery is beautiful and the countryside is so quiet. The national park a 5 minute drive away is a must see! Really enjoyed our stay and Brigitte was very friendly and welcoming. Thanks again. Andrew and Eleanor.

Spacious, peaceful and relaxing cottage in rural Normandy.
The open plan living area is spacious, comfortable, well laid out and appointed to a high standard. The bedrooms are equally comfortable and fairly modern in decor. The bathroom, which houses a sink and a very powerful shower, is spacious. The W.C. is separate. The area is quiet and rural but within easy reach of shops - convenience store 3km, supermarket 10km - and main road routes, so exploring Normandy is easy. The hosts, Brigitte and Daniel are welcoming and friendly but not intrusive - easy to find if you need something but leave you to get on with your holiday. Why only four stars? Well, there are a few things that, whilst not criticisms, you might want to be aware of:- There is a spiral staircase which can prove a bit of a challenge if, like me you have slightly dodgy knees or other mobility problems. WiFi possible - don't depend on it, the signal keeps dropping as it is not strong enough - this is fine if you want to get away from it all, but frustrating if you want/need to keep in touch with the world. Despite the details saying that the owners speak French and English, which they do, you are going to get on better if your French speaking skills are better than mine. It is a wonderful property and a beautiful place to stay with friendly hosts. It is rural but with easy access to major routes for exploring Normandy and yet is quiet and peaceful and we had a great time there. In the spirit of fairness, I have mentioned a few things that might not be to everyone's liking, but if these are not a problem for you I recommend you book up quick.
