Accommodation In Oberon
Experience the wonder and beauty of the Blue Mountains for less with one of our Oberon hotels. The highest point in the Mountains at 1,113m above sea level, this little village is definitely up in the air, but that doesn’t mean your plans have to be! Oberon has shopping and dining, fishing and golf, parks you can wander through and countryside views. But the most exciting things are the unique local attractions, like the Jenolan Caves, the Kanangra-Boyd National Park and the famous Three Sisters of Katoomba. Book your Oberon hotel with us, but don’t just stick to the one spot. The Blue Mountains is a big place, so make sure you explore!
Originally named Fish River Creek after the river that flows through it, Oberon was renamed in 1866, a year after the post office opened. These days, the town of roughly 2,500 has a huge fishing culture, and if you want to cast a line you’re in luck. Lake Oberon Dam and the Reef Reserve are popular spots for fishing, and both rainbow and brown trout can be found in the waters. You can also try your luck in Fish River, which lives up to its name by being – wait for it - full of fish.
Find some food and coffee on Oberon Street. This part of town shows off Oberon’s welcoming small-town vibe, with boutique businesses and colourful gardens lining the road. Take a walk in the leafy green surrounds of ‘The Common’, a park just 10 minutes’ walk from the heart of town. If you have wheels, take a drive along Duckmaloi Road and gaze upon the winding hills and farmyards. If you’re into golf, visit the Oberon Golf Club and tee off in the company of kangaroos and birds around Lake Oberon.
Of course, you’ll want to see the big attractions. The Jenolan Caves are among the most spectacular limestone caverns in the country. Bright, colourful lighting illuminates 340-million-year-old stalactites and rock formations. If you’re in town at the right time, check out one of the concerts or other events in this moody venue. Don’t miss the Blue Lake, a man-made lake where the water is a brilliant bright blue thanks to the minerals in it. Bushwalkers will have a great time at the Kanangra-Boyd National Park, which has everything from easy day walks to three-day adventures for experienced trekkers only. Make sure you visit the lookout for staggering views of tree-cloaked mountains and deep ravines.
Oberon was the king of the fairies in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so he was pretty magical. But enough about him! Discover THIS Oberon’s magic – as well as the magic of the rest of the Blue Mountains - by booking your Oberon accommodation with us.
