Vintage with modern touches by the sea

We are just two houses away from the walkway down to the beach. Our bach is a lovely 1920s cottage with French doors, large deck and 3 bedrooms. Separate lounge, combined kitchen/dining with french doors onto the deck. We have just undergone a significant renovation and updated the kitchen (including a dishwasher), modernised the bathroom, as well as new flooring in kitchen, dining, laundry and bathrooms and a full repaint throughout. We have big comfy modern sofas to sink into and new beds, and enough vintage bits to keep it all cute and eclectic. We also have a collection of NZ art on display. Arrive, park your car and walk everywhere...we are a minute from the village shops, movies, library, banks, cafe's and a short walk to the beach and playgrounds.

We are kid friendly and have a good selection of toys, books and dvds. There are two playgrounds nearby as well as a huge grass reserve with trees and also a public paddling pool by the beach which is very popular with all kids. We are fully fenced. Brand new gas fire and infinity hot water keeps everyone toasty and comfortable....

Welcoming family holiday house
The photos don’t do this place justice. The furnishings and general comfort were better than we expected. Great for our 3 generation whānau with welcome books and toys for the kids (2 & 5). Well located close to the beautiful beach. My only question is the rate - it seems high for a small South Taranaki town that’s not an in-demand holiday destination.

A lovely tidy house for a family.
We were thrilled the property was fenced and safe for small children to run freely. The outdoor area was a quiet, relaxing space for a small group to eat outside. So close to the beach. A perfect spot. Thanks.

I stayed Friday to Monday (3 nights) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The house is clean and tidy, everything is easy to find and it's well-equipped. It's literally a stone's throw from the beach. There are modern conveniences and contemporary decor but house still has it's 1920's character, right down to a claw-foot bath and the loo positioned in the washhouse near the back door. Having no internet connection is great if you want a break from the online world to enjoy your holiday in peace, but there's still digital TV if you're so inclined. Step back in time, and relax. You'll love it.

Relaxing retreat
A wonderful place to kick back and sew up a storm for a week. Without YouTube I got an amazing amount accomplished, and still had time to walk the Opunake trail, visit the beach and frequent the fantastic local cafes. Definitely recommend.

2 nights for a Wedding with our 8 month old + friends
This is a lovely little bach - homely and very clean and tidy with everything you need on a quiet street. There is a bunk room for kids, with toys and books, and two comfortable double rooms for adults. It has a great deck with a BBQ and a fenced back yard that is great for kids to play in. It is a 5 minute walk to both the beach and shops, so ideally located. Easy communication with host and accommodating of last minute changes as to how many people were staying. Would happily come back or recommend to others. Opunake is a cool little town!
