At the very end of Cornwall , charming fisherman's cottage

Ivy Cottage is cosy, calm , in easy walking distance to beach, harbour,, shops and cliff paths.
It combines the charm of an old cottage with the convenience of modern amenities.
After long hours swimming, surfing or trecking along cliff walks, light a barbecue outside or inside a fire in the wood-burning stove in the big granite fireplace
From the windows of the bedroooms, watch the ships sailing to Ireland or , at night , enjoy the flashing of the Wolf Rock lighthouse or the moon reflecting on the sea.
You can sleep well in the main bedroom, equipped with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers ,and also in the second bedroom equipped with 2 adult-size comfortable bunk beds ,wardrobe and cupboard. The bathroom offers you the choice of a shower or a nice hot bath
Downstairs , in the bright and well equippped kitchen , you can cook traditionally with the Rayburn cooker or use the electric appliances ( for your shopping ,walk to the Farmers' market or to the local shops nearby , but if you are tired of cooking , there is the famous First and Last pub , a few paces from the cottage!)
Six of you can sit round the kitchen table beside the window looking into the garden.
Nestling in the sofa, you can relax and watch TV or a DVD or stare at the flames if you have lit a fire.
Outside in the south facing flower garden, soak up the sun or enjoy the nice sea air.
Beyond the low wall and the small trees , are the moors , Lands End and the vast ocean.
Buses stop a few yards from the cottage and can take you to Penzance , St Ives, well loved by artists and the magic Minack theatre.

Warm and Cosy. Our host Senan was kind and helpful, he stepped in and provided his Mobile charger. Due to the poor internet (Cornwall Problem) a DVD player would have been most welcome. Don't let the tight access to parking put you off booking.

Absolutely gorgeous as usual (5th stay). Amazing walks - amazing beaches. Only thing is, if you can't live without the World Wide Web then it's probably not for you (download speed about 0.3MB/sec). For us that was the best bit!

Was exactly as expected
Our stay in the cottage was lovely and relaxing and the cottage had everything we needed. Often when staying away from home you expect to find things a bit lacking in the kitchen and you have to compromise meals to fit with what's available but that wasn't the case here. Towels were nice and big. Location was great. We found the cottage to be nice and clean. Owners son lives on site and although we didn't need anything I'm sure if we had he would have sorted it.

Mix feelings on Ivy Cottage
Our initial impressions of the cottage we’re good. We felt it was basic, but clean and suitable for our week away. We have read that turning into the parking space was tricky, but we both managed it with minimal stress in our estate car. We have visited the area nearly every year for 20years so we know the roads and beaches relatively well. We were overjoyed to learn that the weather was set to be warm and sunny all week and we managed 8 days on the beach. The cottage is well placed for both surf at Sennen and calmer beach days at Porthcurno. Lands End is a short walk and St Just a quick drive up the road. On our fist evening I found the previous occupants dirty towels hung on the bedroom door, which then set doubt in our minds as to how clean the accommodation actually was. During the week my husband swept the downstairs floor and found several items of rubbish behind the sofa that didn’t belong to us. A mug had been replaced in the cupboard that hadn’t been washed up, and several plates had food crusted on them. We were never told about the recycling system until the 6th day we were there. I couldn’t find any information in the cottage on what I should’ve done. The bedlinen in the second bedroom was of very poor quality. The kitchen had what I can assume was once a chopping board but was in such a poor state I had to chop meat and vegetables on a plate, and given how blunt the knives were I’d guess I wasn’t the first. None of the mugs or plates mugs matched which gave the place a run down feel. The immediate area around the cottage although ok, was plagued with a smell of fishing equipment which was coming from the property lived in on the site of the cottage. The Rayburn although lovely to see meant that the cottage was so hot it was almost unbearable sleep at night. We were told it burns all the time and to just open windows. This made very little difference. My family won’t return to Ivy Cottage, for the price we paid for a week it needs a big overhaul and some care given to the finer details. We have stayed in other cottages for less money that have been spotless and well cared for.

Cosy cottage
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was all cleaned on arrival. We found the cottage very cosy and warm. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equiped. The garden had a little sitting area and BBQ. A nice pub with playground just a cross the street and a shop not far away.

Nice Cottage
The cottage itself was fine a bit dated, but access was very tight to drive in, almost impossible. The host Sennen was helpful and a happy man but the area around his bungalow was very messy and unattractive to new guests.

Well Equipped
The cottage was well equipped, and a short drive from Sennen Cove. As mentioned in some of the other reviews the soft furnishings are a bit tired. It could do with new sheets and towels. The sofa and armchair could do with replacing. The listing detailed a BBQ, but we couldn't find it.

Lovely stay last week!
We all enjoyed our stay in this lovely bright and cheerful cottage last week. Thanks to Senan for making us so welcome. Cottage is on a quiet lane but very close to local pub shop and bus stop. Open top Atlantic Coaster is recommended for stress free travel around the area with fantastic views.

The Raeburn is a huge asset in changeable summer weather for drying kit. The access is quite tight for larger cars, but you are met on arrival until you get accustomed to it.

Perfect Holiday
Spent a wonderful two weeks at ivy cottage. The cottage itself is all you could ask for, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Situated close to a wealth of fantastic walking, amazing coastal villages and coves and numerous attractions. The owners son Senan (who lives next door) is a wealth of information and could not do enough to help. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Cornwall check this place out. I will certainly be returning!

Old cottage is in a lovely position for walks etc but in need of a lot of work for a holiday home & at this price ! One of the main problem we had was cold & damp bedroom & wardrobe on the first night we stayed which was in a cold period.electric heaters would not turn on at all because main switch & all heater switches were turned off which is ridiculous.I had to stand on a chair to reach these .load of cleaning problems.washer seal black & filthy.inside windows dirty .splash marks on bedroom walls .bathroom door doesn’t close.outside of property looks like a tip ! Crates of wine bottles.paint brushes plastic containers.pipes unkept garden etc ets

Cosy farmhouse
The house was permanently warm and cosy. On wet days ( of which we had a few), our clothes dried rapidly due to the constant warmth from the Rayburn stove. Nice size kitchen, good internet connection . Food available every day at the local friendly pub just over the road. Little supermarket open everyday too as well as a weekly farmers market. The rental suited us.
