Cockroach Metro
Where to start? I had to kill 4 cockroaches on entry. Room next to me was occupied by people who had continuous domestic disputes with the most foul language one can imagine. This carried on through the night. Room walls were very thin as I could hear someone snoring very loudly. This hotel will be avoided at all costs. $184 AUD for the unpleasant stay. Avoid at all cost.

Bed was very uncomfortable and old, could really do with updating. Not all windows lock so the windows can be opened all the way, making it dangerous for younger children. Very limited parking including out on the street.

After i complained about the flickering fluro light, and the damaged fridge, they graciously put me in another room that only had small problems such as mirror hang was uneven, the fluro near the desk was to big for its receptacles and stuck out at one end. And the fluros over the bed head were also ill fitting. By and large the 2nd room was an improvement on the 1st. One of the 2 lifts were in operation all the time. Just imagine what i could say about nthe other one. The charles hotel had a pig oair behind the bar. Apart from that it was all hunky rara.

There are two lifts but one is permanently broken: “waiting for parts”. The second lift periodically broke, forcing me to climb 5 flights albeit I have 2 prosthetic legs! The staff were generally thoughtful though: an extra pillow and free breakfast. But the place has an air of decay; it’s seen better days. It’s cheap, but nasty.

Dirty baby nappy under the bed with food waste and rubbish, shelving coming out of the walls, 1 elevator out of order for years apparently, no exhaust fan in the bathroom, room is dusty, beds have imprints of previous people, staff smile but don’t know what’s going on, we got locked out of our rooms and given another room key when we raised the issue at the foyer counter, was woken up to a fire alarm 4am Sunday morning all guests had no idea what was going on or where to go- hotel staff were outside and keeping to themselves, fireman responded and then left and no one told anything and people slowly went back into the building? We got our bags and checked out, crap experience and disgusting hotel, I would never recommend or stay again only positive was its location in the CBD to be able to walk around.
