Over-crowded resort that attracts a loud, dirty, obnoxious type of visitor. Do not stay here if you want relaxed, quiet, getaway. This is a loud, hectic, party scene kind of resort. Very unfortunate because the grounds are lovely. The staff caters to bigger crowds and large noisy tables at dining. If you are a party of 2 and quiet, you will be ignored and taken advantage of.

Let’s start by saying this, if you are expecting 5 star, you will be sorely disappointed. I honestly feel bad writing this review, because the staff here is great. They are friendly, attentive and very helpful, but that is where the buck stops. I will break down every element of our stay at Occidental, but I urge you to carefully read the reviews and discern what’s actually legitimate. Location - Occidental @ Xcaret is in the jungle. You are going to see all sorts of wildlife. Monkeys, iguanas, deer, etc….in certain spots of the resort, it will even smell like you are at the zoo. The outdoor lobby is the largest part of the resort. Most of the shops, restaurants, gym, clubs, pharmacy can be found here. It’s a nice view and sadly the nicest part of the entire resort. Service - the service here is pretty good. Regina and Leo were great, they even helped us out with a broken luggage situation that saved us some time and energy. The wait staff was very accommodating and attentive. The only negative about the service is that they are a bit too pushy when it comes to pushing guests to check out their membership club. If folks say there are not interested, leave it at that. Rooms - the rooms here are horrible. They are small, out dated and extremely basic. These are not 5 star accommodations. They are closer to 2 star. The air conditioning worked but it was still very humid and warm in our room at night, even after adjusting the temperature to the highest AC setting. Most of the

I have been to this property several times. For a budget property, you get what you pay for. Overall, I would give it 8/10. The only downers being the pools are in need of some renovations, and the breakfast/lunch buffets are not are good as they used to be. I would go back again if the price fits, but I would go for a room that is better than the concierge. They are extremely pushy and off putting. I am there to relax, not get constant harassment for timeshare presentations.

The workers there were extremely nice and helpful especially the two gentlemen working in building 21 they always created conversations with us and exceeded our expectations.Our lights did stop working towards the end of our stay but everything else was amazing.

I have stayed at this property before and their quality services has decreased from past experience in 2020. They use to have complementary drinks, snacks, and a tequila bottle in room upon your arrival. As well as a fruit basquet. Not anymore. The restaurants for dining was a bad experience. It's hard to get reservasions for dinner. They have to be done in advance and their always booked. Last time you where able to reserve the day off without any problem and there was no limit. Now your only allowed to dine in the restaurants 3 times if you have a minimum stay of 6 days. The rooms need upgrading, the housekeeping service is good they clean every day but they would only provide 2 large towels no hand towels or face towels where provided. Room didn't have a hair dryer, I asked for it twice and finally the 3rd day the housekeeper brought it. I like the outdoor jungle feel and the location but we will probably be looking at a different resort next time.

Unfortunately the resort shut down dining (except 1buffet) during&after hurricane Berle. They were not permitted gor sever days to serve any alcohol beverages. As we were confined the shelter during,antipating the hurrican I contracted covid. Causing me to be very ill and confined for most of my time.. Yo make matters worse or return flight was delayed over 12-13 hours. I have filed gor the trip insurance,but do far they have not paid. I truly regret this vacation. Perhaps I should not have booked with Expedia. . I did let one of your agents know my trip problems,but I was only referred to file a claim.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination was amazing and safe to travel with family. Their customer service is on point and their food is to go back to.

only 2 restaurants for 6 days and it is impossible to get into them - everything is reserved. there are places only in the Mexican restaurant but the food there is disgusting!
