BEST VALUE for something truly nice in PLAYA GRANDE. Our fully furnished Costa Rica style home provides a wonderful and relaxing getaway in a private, gated, quaint, laid back beach community separated from the congestion of Tamarindo. It is within a short 5 minute walk to a beautiful, pristine surfing beach, several great restaurants, bars, rentals of surfboards, beach chairs, bicycles and even a small grocery store is only a short walk from the house. Tiled roof, floors and counter tops throughout. Relax on the covered patio where Iguanas and colorful birds perch and may be coaxed to eat from your hand (if you are patient enough). Monkeys often frequent our trees. Also, within walking distance, a beautiful estuary provides fishing, boating, and offers a water taxi (5 minute boat ride to Tamarindo for dining, dancing, gambling, shopping and souviners). You may also choose to walk to Tamarindo via the beach (possible only at very low tide or take a very short boat taxi ride ) . Dual vanities in bathroom. Maid service 1 x per week. AWESOME BEACH!!!!! Casa Mambo is close enough to the beach to hear the waves crashing when they are big! It is an easy and short walk to the beach from the house. Loved Casa Mambo!!
We completely enjoyed our stay at Casa Mambo. The house was clean and welcoming. There is a gas grill there now so no need to pick up charcoal. We were 4 people in our mid to upper 60's. The walk to the beach was a little longer than expected so we took the car and had no problem parking at all. The pool was clean, wonderful as well as resfreshing in the morning, after the beach in the evening. The people were very friendly. Shawna was responsive and friendly. I highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again.

A perfect location
We enjoyed the location very much, a five minute walk to the beautiful Playa Grande, to 4 different restaurants all good and to a local shop and surfboard rentals. Shawna was very helpful preparing us ahead of time with all the area had to offer as well as once we got there helping to organize. The casa was as described, having everything we needed/wanted. A private space, the pool which we shared with our neighbours but was never busy. We hope to return!

Be Still My Heart!
I have been going to Costa Rica for a number of years and have stayed at Casa Mambo a number of times. I do not go to sightsee, but to rest and get away from the hustle bustle of the culture in the US. This house is located on the perfect beach for taking long walks during low tide. I enjoy the quiet nature of the beach here that also allows for easy access to Tamarindo where the food choices are amazing. For me good food and good rest are the perfect vacation! I will be back!

Had a great stay with our family. Kids loved the pool. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and the house is really comfortable and equipped. A really peaceful area of Playa Grande. Very quiet, quick walk to the beach and various restaurants short walk away. Communication was great with property manager. Thanks for the great stay and willl look to be back.

Great spot/good location/awesome beach
The casita is perfect, we were three adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room for all of us. There were a few amenities that were missing that would have been much appreciated. More than 1 stool around the bar, a second bicycle, some patio chairs, a BBQ and maybe an extra pillow or 2. There were plenty of dishes, pots and pans etc. and the pool and surrounding area are lovely. All in all we loved the Casita and would definitely come back. Thank you!

Perfect Getaway Vacation
This trip for us was just amazing. We have been to Palm Beach Estates many times and this was just one more fantastic trip again. Our property manager Shawna was awesome to work with answered all our question and concerns when we had any. The beach access walking distance ,nice local store for supplies. Just a layed back stay with sunsets on the beach every night. If your looking for heaven we found it. Highly Highly recommend! Pura Vida

Nice quiet place in Playa Grande across from Tamarindo
We really enjoyed our stay in Playa Grande. Once you navigate the gravel road for about a mile, you get into ex-pat type village with very nice houses and restaurants. Beach was nice and we enjoyed for 3 days with kids. Much quieter than Tamarindo across a little river. Be careful not to swim across that river as it is possible to meet crocs there. The house was very nice and secluded, you get your private jungles. Shared swimming pool is pretty shallow but nice to enjoy with little kids.

Playa Grande & Casa Mambo
The house was equipped with everything we needed. Short walk to the beach. Had one issue with the lower faucet in the shower falling off, notified Jorge and he ordered maintenance (it did not affect the upper shower, we just wanted to ensure they knew of the issue.) For me personally, the house was too far from town. Would love to be able to just walk to things. However, Casa Mambo is located in a gated community that has a small store and several restaurants/hotels within walking distance. They were just a little too tourist driven for me. I like the mom & pop sodas where are the locals eat. Found several in and around Huacas to drive to in about 20 minutes. The house and pool were perfect. Some people commented on the beds being hard. I did not find that to be the case. Slept like a baby. Only thing we wished for were comfortable outdoor chairs. The chairs in the pictures on VRBO have been replaced with a BEAUTIFUL natural wood picnic table with benches. Great for eating outdoors, but not for relaxing outside. Definitely recommend. Hank, Shawna, & Jorge we're great to work with and very prompt in responding to emails.

Good location, property needs some work
This unit is one of 6 in a cluster of identical small cottages. There is nice landscaping and a small swimming pool in the courtyard. I cannot give this property high marks, mostly because it is probably 30 years old and has apparently not been updated or thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The decor is an collection of older stuff. Paddle fans have a layer of grime. The most annoying thing about the rental is that we were instructed not to put toilet paper in the toilet because the septic system can’t handle any solid waste. In many years of travel I have never had to put toilet paper in a trash bag instead of the toilet bowl The WiFi worked good and there were several flat screen TVs, but we never found any English language stations, which makes the TVs pretty useless for most visitors. There are also a couple of weathered bicycles, which we didn’t use because one had a bad tire. Overall, I don’t think we would stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Mambo. The house is in a great location, close to the beautiful beach. The house is very comfortable and well designed. It is on beautiful garden grounds. I loved waking up each morning and having coffee on the patio watching the butterflies, birds, lizards and occasionally hearing howler monkeys. The pool was wonderful to have, we swam and cooled off in it multiple times a day. Our 10 year old son really loved it. Everyone we met was so friendly and kind. The restaurants in Playa Grande are wonderful. Hank and Shawna are very kind and easy to work with. We absolutely love Costa Rica and Playa Grande and Casa Mambo were a perfect fit for our family. My husband taught my son to surf and they both surfed multiple times a day. I really can't say enough good things about our stay. It was incredible and we can't wait to return next summer.

Wonderful stay in Playa Grande!
We loved Casa Mambo and Playa Grande. The house had everything we needed (AC in the bedrooms was very welcome) and the pool and the grounds were beautiful and well taken care of. The beach is perfect. Our young kids loved playing in the sand and water during high tide, and my husband enjoyed the surfing. There is not a lot of shade at the beach, so we went mostly in the afternoon/evening to avoid the strong sun. Highly recommend Playa Grande and Casa Mambo!

playa grande is a beautiful place ,very calm.and waking up in the morning at casa mambo at the sound of the monkeys is fun .casa mambo is a place where you could make your meals or go out very easely.the beach is pretty close 5-10 minutes walk .the waves are pretty big .all 4 of us want to go back ......

Great place and location. Could use some updates.
We really enjoyed the property. It’s all very functional and spacious. The pool was nice and the landscaping is beautiful. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced. Most of it has been ‘fixed’ with zip ties. One of the two bar stools had a broken leg. A bit of lounge furniture or a hammock would also have been welcome. Property management staff were very helpful and attentive if anything went wrong (lost cable, phone and wifi for 3 days). Location was great and overall we really enjoyed our stay.
