Staff very nice. Rooms and hotel very tired. Not worth the £100 a night. Maybe £60.

In need of upgrading.
Fabric of the hotel left a lot to be desired. Air conditioning in the bedroom consisted of an open window onto a noisy street (night and morning). I was informed that it is due for total refurbishment. I hope that this happens soon, as the excellent staff deserve better.Food in restaurant good.

Well located dog friendly hotel
We had a brief overnight stay and found the staff great and really helpful. Providing a take away breakfast as we were leaving very early was no trouble. My dogs were also made very welcome in the hotel and in the bar. We didn't get chance to eat in the restaurant due to lack of time so couldn't comment but the take away breakfast was good and the portion sizes were generous. The hotel is a little tired in appearance but the staff make up for it and I was glad to have somewhere that welcomed dogs.

nice pub, shame about the room
Staff were great and the pub/restaurant has a good atmosphere. Excellent breakfasts...........however, room (no 24) was shabby with peeling wallpaper and blocked out windows so couldn't even see the sky! Although the room had two beds in separate sections, this was not what we had asked for - we had booked a double and didn't use the second bed. We expected a bit more space than we got in the area we used but although the beds were both small (4' ) there was still hardly any room around them and virtually no sitting space - only two wooden upright chairs against the wall - not good value at £80 per night. Bathroom also needed modernising - I appreciate that this is an old building but that is no excuse for tired decor and attempting to squeeze two guests into a space that was hardly big enough for one.
