We've stayed at the Porter several times. It's upscale and nicely appointed with clean rooms and comfortable beds. Valet parking is expensive at $59/night, so we park at a garage a block away at $22/night. A lovely place to stay, walking distance from the Portland Art Museum.

$59 valet service when the public lot (which allows overnight) is literally less than one block away. No. Front desk was not very courteous. Check-in revealed my reserved room was not available. I had to pay the same for a less-desirable room. Checkout inquiry to checkout 1 hour later was flatly denied causing an uncomfortable situation to rush to depart. I would stay again but insist the check-in and checkout be less troublesome. And I would expect a discount or upgrade if the room type I reserved wasn’t available.

The stay was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. They were having an event at the rooftop bar which had people coming and going on the elevators and the music blasting loud. I wish I knew that prior to my reservation. Restaurant downstairs stopped seating like 45 min prior to closing time listed so we had to get room service since they didn’t wanna seat us. From room service The burger was good, lemon chicken with capers and mashed potatoes was good too but a small portion. We asked the front desk while we were downstairs for some toiletries we needed the lady said she didn’t have by with her but would send someone with them up to our room, no one came, ever. We tried calling front desk/concierge it would just ring. No one answered. The service was very minimal, not super welcoming. Wouldn’t come back , would rather give another place a try.

I liked how safe I felt. Needing your keycard to access the elevators. The one downside is the pool was to cold and the hot tub was to hot and the smell of chemicals from the hot tub burned our eyes.

The first night/morning [Friday/Sat.] there was drunken shouting and door slamming in the hall at 4:50am, not long enough to get security but it did wake us up. Saturday night we came back from a show, 11pm, tried to get room service [for 45 min.] but there was no answer. Not a terrible thing. Sunday morning my wife and I wanted a convenient breakfast so we went down to the restaurant. The food was good but the service was non existent. My wife and I have worked in the service industry for more than 10 years each and we know this was NOT the servers fault. This is a management issue. This looks like staffing or training issue. Did not see a manager anywhere and I think our server was brought in from another department to help out. We did have a drink and a bite at the upstairs bar before the show Saturday and that was nice. Front desk, coffee shop and valet were great.

Most everything was great but there was a filthy pair of dirty underwear in our bed sheets. We didn’t realize at first as there were no fitted sheets but after sleeping in the bed all the covers moved and the dirty underwear was right were we were sleeping. Besides this the sauna and steam room were wonderful and workers were kind.

Paid extra for a “Corner Room with River View” this property has no line of sight of the river hence the River View room is a scam. Second tried to call the guest services 7 times not one time the phone was answered and when i went down to ask them for help they were just standing talking to each other. Would not recommend there a much better hotels in the area that actually have a river view for the same price.
