Fabulous Guest House Douro
We don’t normally leave reviews but Guest House Douro warrants a few words of praise. The whole team, including Louisa and Luis in particular, made our stay so enjoyable. When we needed help nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spotless, breakfast service excellent, and the location is perfect to enjoy all that Porto has to offer. Thank you Guest House Douro, you are one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We hope to be back again soon.

The room we had was small and could be noisy at night since it faced the river and there are restaurants next door. The staff and service was fantastic though and the location is close to so much.

I cannot recommend Guest House Douro enough! Spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast, and fabulous service. Philip and Luis were so helpful and did everything they could to ensure that we had everything we needed. It's also ideally placed overlooking the river, in easy walking distance for the city. Will definitely return!

Fantastic property right in the river Douro. Staff could not have been more helpful. Knowledgable and nothing was too much. Both Luis and Phillip were amazing. My room was small but as it was only me it wasn’t a big problem. Doors opening onto the river. Bed was comfortable and toiletries available. Breakfast is amazing and if you want something they don’t have, they get it for you! If you would like a property with taxi/uber able to drop you right outside, then there are only a few that can do this and you would have to walk with luggage up and down steep hill.

All the reviews you've already read are true. The people that run GHD truly make this place special. The rooms are small, but well thought out. We had Room 402 and the view was stunning. The breakfast was like a work of art. One morning we werent feeling well and they brought it to our room. They brought us coffees to our room every morning before breakfast and even bottles of water. They helped us with directions, Ubers, dinner suggestions, and were very friendly and kind. We are on our 3rd hotel on our Portugal trip, and we didnt realize how good we had it until we were gone. Thanks to all of you for starting our trip off right. Love, the Twins.

We can't love this place enough. EVERY staff member was so helpful and accommodating. I will tell everyone staying in Porto that GHD is a MUST stay. Shout out to Philip for a great welcome. The heart of Ribiera/Porto
Staff were wonderful! Very pleasant and helpful, giving useful advice on the area. The waterfront rooms are perfect, adjacent to busy cafes, tour boats, and with a beautiful view of the Port warehouses and shops. Breakfast was outstanding, with great breads and tropical fruit. Great view by day and by night. This is in a pedestrian only zone, but the recommended parking was a reasonable distance and not overpriced. Restaurants away from the waterfront are cheaper and much better food.

Luisa did a phenomenal job of getting us checked in, giving us great dinner recommendations and getting us breakfast! The stay was super great! The location is perfect. The only recommendation I would have is for the room to have a little better lighting and a full length mirror… things that aren’t a necessity. Our stay was perfect and I would def stay again!

Luisa and Luis were outstanding hosts throughout our five day visit. They went above and beyond what could be expected to anticipate all of our needs, including booking plane and train transportation when ours was unexpectedly cancelled. We have never received such fine service, from any lodging, no matter how many stars they’ve earned. Breakfast was wonderful and our bed was the best of our two month trip. This stay was the highlight of our trip.
