About this property

Runaway Rooster B&B - The Roost

Located in the heart of charming Bloomfield, this stunning, chalet-style home has everything you need to escape the city barnyard.

Its spacious, upscale, cottage-like feel and aesthetic create a non-traditional B&B experience – perfect if you’re looking for a unique, cool vibe and something completely different.

It’s the ideal place to hit pause, relax and experience the bounty of the County. Escape for a day, a weekend, a week or longer.

Centrally located, the beautiful, airy, red-cedar, Pan Abode-style home features three bedrooms on the second floor, and a stunning Great Hall that soars to an 18-foot-high ceiling. It offers a resort-like ambience with several outdoor seating areas on a large creek-side property.

THE ROOST
The Roost is the home’s beautiful master bedroom with tall cedar ceilings, ensuite bathroom, queen-size wrought-iron bed, and in-room lounge area.

A whimsical rooster painted by local artist Ron Windebanks (Garden Arts, Warkworth) hangs above the comfy bed. There is a small in-room seating/reading area, and loads of dresser space. A private walkout balcony overlooks the front garden and is perfect for watching the sunset colour the sky.

The Roost’s ensuite is a bright, spacious three-piece bathroom with classic black-and-white tiling. The oversized shower offers both a rain-head and handheld option. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer and towels are conveniently supplied.

For your absolute comfort, the room also feature self-controlled air-conditioning and heating and a ceiling fan … or simply open the windows and enjoy the country-fresh air!

And of course, a sumptuous, more-than-continental breakfast is included!

EXPLORE THE PROPERTY
Feel free to explore our property to its fullest. In addition to our spectacular and spacious Great Hall, there are four tiered outdoor decks for sitting and lounging. There’s also a one-acre lot that runs down to Bull’s Creek.

Feel like a day at the beach? For guests staying two nights or more, our Sandbanks Park pass is yours to borrow if available.

Impeccable
We spent two nights in June at the Runaway Rooster and it could not have been more perfect. The breakfasts were delicious and the property is beautiful. Our room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Karen and George were the nicest hosts; they had so many great suggestions for things to do in the County. We would definitely recommend the Runaway Rooster.

4 Days in Bloomfield
We enjoyed everything about Runaway Rooster. The hosts Karen and George were terrific. The breakfast was delicious. We went to the beach which is a short 10 km away on most days or went for a visit into Picton or Wellington. Both lovely little towns with great restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream. Will definitely go back.

Fabulous getaway at Runaway Rooster
We just returned from staying at Runaway Rooster B&B in Bloomfield and loved it so much we booked their guest cottage for a return visit in October. Karen and George are wonderful hosts with a beautiful home and property in the heart of the County. The breakfasts were scrumptious and they had wonderful tips for wineries and restaurants and other things to do in the area. We’re looking forward to our next visit in the Fall.

Excellent place to stay!
We spent a weekend at the runaway rooster and it far exceeded our expectations. The room was beautiful, spacious and comfortable (the roost). The bed was ultra luxurious and comfortable and there was a small sitting area. There was also a small private balcony where we could grab a breath of fresh air. The bathroom was spotless and well equipped with lots of towels, a hair dryer and soap/shampoo/conditioner. The house and yard were totally spectacular. There’s a great sitting room with a few games and big TV. The outside has multiple decks, sitting areas and fire pit. We were lucky enough to sit under the stars enjoying fireflies ! The yard had beautiful well kept gardens. Our hosts were phenomenal. What a natural fit for the both of them! They had great advise on where to explore, they gave us a ton of free tasting cards for wineries, entrance passes for the sandbanks and were all around friendly. The breakfast was AMAZING. It was 5 star, totally delicious, filling and almost exclusively locally sourced. Yumm yumm yumm. It was also really nice to meet the guests. The house is located in a great spot. A few really great restaurants in walking distance and short drive to both Picton, the Sandbanks, and countless wineries/breweries. We can’t wait to go back :)

Bowled over in Bloomfield
Bloomfield is a perfect location for a visit to Prince Edward County, it's convenient to visit many of the area attractions, the local wineries, Sandbanks Provincial Park, Wellington and Picton. Runaway Rooster is a fantastic property with beautiful gardens, a creek and two extremely friendly hosts, Karen and George. They were very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. We were bowled over by the fabulous included breakfast and the attention to detail that was visible in our room and the great room, where guests are encouraged to spend time. They were very knowledgeable about the County and were able to give us lots of ideas of things to do in the area. We'll definitely return to the Roost and continue our exploration of this amazing place.
