About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

LUXURY HOME, RAIN FOREST, BEACHES, OSA PENINSULA, CABO MATAPALO, CORCOVADO FORES

This Beautiful Tropical Paradise Home sits on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Below are three of the most Exotic Beaches in the Osa Peninsula, "Cabo Matapalo". Pan Dulce, Backwash Bay, and Playa Matapalo de Osa.

This house was built with luxury and comfort in mind and has all the comforts of home. As the owner of Tres Palmas says "Mi Casa es Su Casa".

The beach is a short walk down our tropical pathway through dense primary rain forest. It's common to see all four types of Monkeys, Scarlett Macaws, Toucans, Sloths, Anteaters and other wildlife.

The property is surrounded by thousands of acres of rain forest that connects to the famed Corcovado National Park. Corcovado National Park is home to 80% of all the wildlife species found in Costa Rica.

We offer Optional Concierge Service. We can plan or book your entire trip to Tres Palmas. From your air and ground transportation needs to doing all your shopping for food, snacks and beverages prior to your arrival.

We will arrange any tours you might want to go on and activities you might want to attend. We can also setup onsite spa services, wedding and honeymoon planning, world class fishing packages.

With our Professional Chef, he can prepare dishes that you have requested or simply let him create authentic Costa Rican cuisine for you. All seafood is fresh and caught locally. All fruits and vegetables are fresh picked and grown locally.

THE HOME

Tres Palmas is one of the largest and most exotic rental homes in all of the Osa Peninsula. It sleeps up to 16 guests very comfortably in our four detached private suites, all with private bathrooms and alfresco showers, and a large loft with private bathroom.

There is a massive palm thatched rancho which serves as the central gathering and entertaining area of the house. It is nearly 3000 square feet that encompasses two living rooms, a TV room, dining room, gourmet kitchen and a large center circle that is ideal for Yoga groups.

Tres Palmas is ideal for large families, family reunions, friends, business retreats, fishing excursion groups, Yoga groups and wedding parties.

TEMPERATURES

Being elevated on hilltop, Tres Palmas catches all of the cool Pacific Ocean breezes. Since it also borders the cool rain forest on three sides, Tres Palmas stays cool and refreshing throughout the year.

You will actually need to cover up with a thin blanket at night, as the window with louver's and screens lets in the cool nights breezes coming in off the ocean.

ACTIVITIES. TOURS, EXCURSIONS AND SAFARI'S

There are so many things to do in the Osa Peninsula and so many options when it comes to tours, safari’s and excursions that it is almost impossible to know what service to use. Since we are based in Costa Rica and know these companies and work with them directly, we can help.

Most people think that the more expensive the package the better. This is not always the case and we know what services and companies to use. Even if it is the most expensive we can often negotiate a better price for you.

POPULAR ACTIVITIES

Dolphin and Whale Tour: During the tour, you will search for humpback and pilot whales. You might also see whale sharks feeding on the plankton blooms. Costa Rica’s most iconic and oft spotted whale, the humpback, spends more than eight months a year in these waters. Dolphins will be seen throughout the tour.

Fishing Safari’s: We can provide you with safari packages from 4 to 12 hours. This will be determined based on what you are looking to catch. The boat sizes range from 27-37 feet in length and go out about 20 miles and start trolling north or south depending on where the fish are biting. The Captain will be targeting mahi, yellowfin and black fin tuna, wahoo, sailfish and the occasional marlin.

Horseback Riding: The horseback riding trip takes you through the forest as you make your way to the beach. Once you arrive to the beach, feel free to open the reigns or take a leisure gallop while soaking in the sun.

Corcovado Day Hike: The Tour is a must do for those looking to check off a national forest. There is so much history behind it and how it was preserved. So much natural life to see and be a part of as you hike with nature.

Bird Watching: The Osa Peninsula is a bird watcher’s paradise. Home to over 360 bird species including the healthiest population of Scarlet Macaws in Central America. The lowland bird watch area offers birds such as manakins, contingas, honeycreepers, toucans, macaws, crested-eagle, harpy-eagle, warblers, plovers, sandpipers and vireos.

Kayaking: There are two kayaking options, a daytime trip and an afternoon/night trip. The tour will take you through the local mangroves leading towards the sea, with a wide variety of aquatic, reptilian and bird life.

Surf Lessons: Longtime resident Olman Fernandez Cedeno, locally known as Pollo, has been surfing the Matapalo waves since he was 7 years old. He is a very enthusiastic instructor and will get his students up and riding in short order. He states, on your first lesson you will learn to stand up and ride the wave. He and his instructors are CPR and First Aid certified.

Paddle Boarding: The Costa Rica paddle boarding cruise begins at Pan Dulce beach and heads over to Back-Wash bay along the shoreline as long as the waves are not up. Standing above the water allows for viewing of abundant marine animals, which may include dolphins, turtles, rays, fish and lots of sea birds.

Pavones Surf Trip: If you are a surfer than Pavones is a for sure destination while at Tres Palmas. Pavones is a small community located along the southern Pacific Coast and is known as a as a surfer's haven.

There are other tours and attraction. Please call and we will go over additional tours and attractions.

FOOD

Our Professional Chef can make your vacation a delight with no cooking or clean up. We will prepare a custom menu just for your group with Local Tico Cuisines with some Gourmet dinners mixed in. Separate charge required.

We will design your menu with your family or group in mind. Once you have booked you stay at Tres Palmas, we will discuss the likes and don’t likes when it comes to food. We will then do all the shopping prior to your arrival.

It is nice to eat as the locals and since we are surrounded by water, fresh seafood is available all year-round. Nothing flash frozen or farmed, just all natural.

If you have a meat lover in the group we can order Beef Tenderloins, Filet Mignon, Pork Tenderloins, Smoked Pork Chops or Chicken. We can prepare all meats either baked, roasted, grilled or brick oven baked. Some meats are upon availability and need time to arrange.

Since we do have a brick oven, our Chef generally tries to have a pizza night during your stay. We can also prepare all Vegetarian or Vegan diet if you prefer.

Three meals per day per person will be the base charge.

SPA SERVICES

We have a full-time masseuse on-site so you can get a massage anytime you like. After a long day hiking, there is nothing better.

PROPERTY RECAP

Osa Peninsula, as National Geographic put it, is one of the most biologically intense places on earth. Tres Palmas is an 8500 square foot villa estate that sits on 25 acres of primary rain forest. There is a professional Chef and kitchen to cook all your meals.

The Pacific Ocean stretches out to the horizon and you can see the tip of Panama across the Gulfo Dulce. Behind you are hundreds of acres of primary forest teeming with wildlife. Below are magnificent beaches with some of the best fishing and surfing the world has to offer.

Tres Palmas catches the cool tropical breezes coming off the Gulfo Dulce and Pacific Ocean. The sound of surf in the distance, scarlet macaws calling to their mates, while howler monkeys cavort overhead. This lulls you into a sense of harmony with nature.

In the midst of this, a secluded, luxury, exotic house has been built in a Modern Spanish style under a massive palm thatched roof. This keeps the temperature cool in the day and at night, even in summer.

Our property is home to all four types of monkeys, hundreds of bird species, sloths, iguanas, anteaters, and other animal species. Plant specimens are varied and abundant. This magical place offers the rare opportunity to experience nature at its most spectacular and unspoiled.

Soul-nourishing week!
This was an amazing space for a week away with our kids and spouses, who all live in different cities. Tranquil space with lots of options for more excitement (e.g. surfing lessons), and a constant nature show of birds, monkeys, and other wildlife. Delicious food, and friendly staff who went the extra mile (one of our daughters twisted her knee on the first day and needed a few more rides than we'd planned on). We absolutely plan on another visit, hopefully soon!

Great time June 2023
We were a group of 3 families with parents and 4 college age children -- 11 total. We had mostly non surfers but myself and 3 others surfed. Everyone in our group was blown away by the house. I mean it. Its that spectacular --in a good way. Not overdone or gaudy, just amazing design and beauty. Great pool with ocean view and Scarlet Maccaws flying below. Monkeys and other animals plentiful. The Manager Brad was helpful throughout and very responsive. The Chef Ivan and his team of helpers were great. Ivan is a nice guy and will get you any food or other stuff you need from town. We had mostly pescatarians and asked for fish for 8 nights in a row and Ivan managed to create lots of variety with fish and other sides. His deserts were always eagerly anticipated. Ivan made a mango and passion fruit pie from scratch that was amazing. The house is 30 to 40 minutes outside Puerto Jimenez and the drive way to the house is bumpy so going out his not super easy. I highly recommend having Ivan cook which is a bargain at $10 a meal per person. The groundskeeper looked for and found a mama and baby sloth on the property which was on my wife's bucket list to see. The Corcovado day hike is recommended and the guide Melvin was very good. One thing to keep in mind. The property sits above the beach. The hike down to the beach and back up is best suited to folks with good overall fitness. We liked the exercise but some will find it too hard.

We had 13 family members that ranged from 17-81 stay for 2 weeks. It was an unforgettable trip! Ivan made it over the top! He and his staff were so kind and helpful! The house itself is just what we were looking for, no neighbors, tons of wildlife and just so relaxing. There was plenty of room for all of us. If your thinking about renting this place…DO IT!! Absolutely Spectacular!
The most amazing house and property I have ever been to in Costa Rica...and anywhere, really. This was my second time at Tres Palmas and I'm already trying to figure out how to get back for the third! We were a group of fifteen with ages ranging from 4 to 72 and everyone had a wonderful time! The view, the wildlife, the pool, the beaches...it doesn't get any better than this. There is so much wildlife on this property it's insane. Everywhere you look there is something. You don't even have to leave the pool and you will see monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, coatis, iguanas, bats, frogs, butterflies, hawks, vultures, spiders, hummingbirds...the list goes on! If you have a big group I'd definitely recommend hiring their chef and having your meals prepared for you. The food is sooo goooood! They will also work with you on timing around your tours and sleep schedule and will prepare pretty much whatever you'd like whenever you'd like it. Throughout the week we had fresh tuna and snapper, ceviche, smoked pork ribs, steak, and the most amazing burrito we have ever had in our lives for lunch one day. It was so nice not having to think about meal prep, or shopping, or cleaning the dishes! (Even though we did help clean the dishes, but we were happy to.) The staff is incredible, very polite and friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Stay here! You will not regret it!

Amazing Villa with Stunning Views!!!
This home was a +10 in every imaginable way. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures in the listing. The home's vibes are perfect for the setting and decor/details are perfect even down to the towel holders. We spent a lot of time in the infinity pool simply having cocktails and enjoying the unforgettable views. Also, the wildlife that comes with the house is absolutely unreal. We had toucans pecking at our window every morning (not to the point of annoyance) and four types of monkeys that visited us during our seven day stay. The outdoor space has plenty of room for large groups and makes for the perfect spot to hang out and have meals. The beach is stunning and very relaxed so you don't get the feel of a resort (our preference). It's about a ten minute walk from the house and great rain forest canopy. It's downhill to the beach and uphill coming back so make sure your group is ready for that. Outside of the beach, there are plenty of tours and activities within a mile of the house. It's really the perfect location if you're looking for something in the heart of Cabo Matapalo that still feels private and secluded. Lastly, I can't say enough good things about Ivan the chef and kitchen staff and the great gourmet meals, and the cleaning crew. Ivan was always available for tour recommendations and transportation services. One time a group of monkeys joined us by the pool with the hammocks and Ivan told us all about them. We only ate out once because the chef/food was AMAZING. It was like having 5 star cuisines right in your kitchen with no clean up. It will be hard to ever do another trip any other way again. The cleaning crew made sure the house was always tidy but stayed out of the way and we always had fresh linens. This is a very well run operation that will likely top anything else you will experience in your life. Worth the money ten times over. Thank you George, Brad, Ivan, and the rest of the crew!! For my once in a lifetime experience!

Really cool spot
Remote, beautiful spot to stay. The staff is just lovely! The pool is perfection. The food is delicious. The only negatives: the "path" to the beach is actually about 200 stairs, super steep. That was disappointing. Be ready to wake up EARLY with the howler monkeys every day. Enjoy!

This is a must be vacation point. The place was impeccable and well thought out. Hospitality was over the top. A full time cook in place at all times for what ever your needs are. Fresh fruit every morning grown on the property. I found myself every morning drinking coffee and watching the monkeys as the jungle woke up around is. Fresh fish multiple times that week that we stayed. I could go on and on. Book today and live the heavenly atmosphere that it brings. Enjoy the million dollar view. You will not believe it until you see it. I will back down vacationing there as soon as I can. JUST AWESOME

Breathtaking views, exotic animals and wildlife, romantic, relaxing, FIRST CLASS luxurious FIVE STAR
We just returned from our stay at Tres Palmas resort in Costa Rica. I have been around the world more times than I can count. I must say that this was one of the most stunning settings. It's located on the Osa Pennisula which boasts an abundance of exotic plants and animal life; only second to the Amazon basin according to local guides. After a forty minute bumpy drive from the Peurto Jimenez airport, which is the nearest town, and down a very steep curvy driveway, we drove through a tunnel of hibiscus flowers which opened to an Oasis of flowers, views and animals in a pristine boutique resort setting. The resort itself is equivalent or better than any five star island destination - except it is “off grid”. Mostly powered by solar - so leave your blow dryer and curling irons home - you won’t need them! The architecture and colors were exotic and vibrant - no expenses were spared on construction or landscaping. What a magical experience lounging in the infinity pool perched at the edge of a cliff overlooking the pacific ocean. The cabana cottages were romantic, private and luxurious. We were greeted with bright colors, fresh tropical flowers in our room daily and comfortable furnishings. The attached outdoor shower, with hot and cold water, had views of the ocean. It wasn’t unusual to see monkeys swinging in trees overhead or scarlet macaws and toucans perching nearby. What made this place so unique was the animals were in their natural wild environment. I’ve been to Africa where you drive to see safari animals. The animals at Tres Palmas are at home, you don’t have to go on a road trip. You are living amongst them in the jungle. The howler monkeys would call out before first light in the morning. Throughout the night we heard exotic sounds reminiscent of Jurassic park. If we fancied a dip in the ocean, we walked down the 350 plus steps under the cool canopy of the jungle. We swam in the warm Pacific ocean and watched the surfers catching waves. We were ready for dip in the pool after climbing back up the hill. Don’t pack for dressy dinners in the distant town! Bring your bathing suits and casual clothes, as well as, comfortable shoes suitable for hiking. A small flashlight is handy for exploring at night. Everything you need is at Tres Palmas. Nearby horseback riding, waterfall hikes, fishing and whale watching were fun but the best times were lounging by the pool and exploring the resorts property. Maureen & Harlan

The king's place with a view in a nature paradise
The place is very likely THE best place to stay when you are visiting the Osa Peninsula. It is pricey but well worth the money. The view from the property over the Dulce Gulf toward Panama is outstanding. The primary house structure is one of a kind, an architectural marvel, made, seemingly, without a single nail. You can observe animal life right from the house; the place is the one the birdwatchers will die for. Have about a dozen scarlet macaws, few toucans and aracaris, curassows, small parrots, caracaras, white hawks and couple more birds in a view simultaneously is a fantastic experience. One disappointing note, though. Contrary to many previous reviews, we found service to be very annoying and not up to standards for such a pricey accommodation.

Jungle paradise! Private, remote, 5 star amenities, unbeliveable views, the perfect get-away!
The jungle villa was the perfect setting for my company incentive trip! I, along with four couples, made this jungle paradise home for 5 days! We wanted an adventure & we got it! If you're looking for something unusual, out of the box, & most likely a never been done experience, this is it! The villa sleeps 4 couples in comfortable jungle style. We had all our meals prepared daily & they were fantastic! The sites & sounds all around us were spectacular! Everyday there were more activities than we had time to enjoy. Fishing, repelling along side waterfalls, & sailing were a blast! I highly recommend this experience to anyone with an adventurous soul!

Perfect vacation for adventure seekers!
We love Tres Palmas! This was our second trip. On both occasions we traveled with another family. This time our group was 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 7-12). This place is not easy to get to, but that is part of the charm. It is truly luxurious, and is such a special place to come "home" to after a long day exploring the HOT jungle, or surfing, horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tree climbing, or just a day at the beach! The kids were in the infinity pool at sunrise and pretty much any time we weren't out adventuring! Marvin, Yerlin, and their family are just incredible hosts. They think of everything. We had them shop for us and prepare and clean up all the meals and it is well worth it! Such a treat to not have to worry about feeding everyone and they do a great job of catering to everyone's needs - we had 2 vegetarians in our group and they always made extra veggie side dishes etc. The food is fresh and delicious. Definitely have them make you their ceviche and the empanadas - just 2 of our favorites. The wildlife is plentiful and we saw much of it just lounging at the house. The tours that Brad (the property manager) helped us set up were amazing! We were very busy and active while we were there, but you could easily do much less than we did and still have a wonderful time. Brad was very helpful to work with and we really appreciate all the effort he went to. One of the best vacations we have ever had! We were sad to leave, and hope to be lucky enough to return again!
