It was a beautiful place that needs some TLC. Maybe we just missed busy season but only a few guests there so it was a little spooky for my daughter not seeing anyone in this huge place. The very few staff members we saw were really nice but spoke little English so couldn't ask them much. That's ok since I was visiting their country and know basic Spanish. From a distance the pools look really nice but tiles falling off and not the cleanest, hot tubs half full with debris in them or closed completely. Looks like they started building 2 more buildings awhile ago but never finished. Don't think spa was even operating. Maybe they were in transition and I just got there at the wrong time. Thankfully only there two days so spent most of it out doing things. Location is nice on the beach and right in between Sayulita and Punta de Mita. Taxis get ther quickly. Our room had a jacuzzi tub and spa shower with many jets, a nice big deck overlooking ocean, walk in closet, spacious, and was clean so had some pluses. Wouldn't recommend for family unless traveling with others, kids will get bored Place has potential so do your research before booking. The pictures and description are deceiving.

i never write reviews but had to on this one!
Comforter to bed was filthy with stains. Called to have it removed and replaced. Never got new one until several hours later had to ask for one. Most of the Staff didn't not speak any English. We had a total of 3 large bath towels for 3 people. No wash cloths, had towels which would be standard at any other hotel. Buildings are not completed so you stare at a 1/2 or 1/3 of unfidhed construction. That looks like it has just stalled. I could go on but I will stop here. It was very unfortunate but luckily we were only staying one night! Was hoping to really like it so we could go back with friends in future. Oh well!

Beautiful, peaceful, but maybe not worth $400
The hotel overall is beautiful and well kept. The food is delicious and the servers are all very friendly, however room service food came cold both times we ordered. If you don't speak Spanish that well you will have a bit of hard time getting what you need. We never received maid service (we were there for a full weekend) and they were doing construction on the hotel, so we were woken up every morning around 7am with loud voices and construction noises right by our room. The doors and walls are not very sound proof, you can hear people in the hallway very clearly from inside the room.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's right on the beach and the pools are stunning. The only issues I have is with hotels.com. They stated the hotel has free local shuttle which it does not. Also, this hotel is not in puerto Vallarta. It's 45-60 minutes away. Very secluded hotel. But you do feel like you have the whole beach and hotel to yourself. Very calm, quiet, and relaxing. Overall, great but if you want to be in the center of town you need a hotel in puerto Vallarta.

GREAT RELAXING OCEAN FRONT LOCATION
Loved the oceanfront restaurant and staff, great food and beautiful sunset. Had three wonderful relaxing days taking advantage of quiet facility. Would have like to have a better dinning experience, food was not very good, ocean front grill was 10 times better, maybe day chef is not same as night chef. There are excellent restaurants close by. Over all we loved our stay and would recommend it. FYI, if you plan to get out of hotel to explore more than a couple of times, I would recommend renting a car since taxi fairs are a bit expensive.

The Tranquilizer
Place is enormous yet void of humans even during what is described as a "high season" week. We stayed Dec 22-24. Staff seemed more eager to sell us a time share than serve hot coffee in the morning (we asked twice to no avail). We received permission to check out a night early, yet had to spend an hour on the phone with Expedia catching the hotel staff in a lie, and still awaiting the refund of our final night as promised by the reservation staff. I’d be happy with just a refund of 1/3 of our stay (Friday night did carry a premium and I totally understand and accept this). Negative comments aside, the hotel property is BEAUTIFUL and very well maintained. If you are looking for a VERY quite resort, this is a perfect place for you. The tranquility will tranquilize you. An important disclosure is the property has very few actual hotel rooms. The rest are condos (likely many unsold and unoccupied), hence the sparsely populated resort—which is GREAT if that is what you are looking for. Rooms are very nice but we found the lack of any available and/or optional shower privacy a bit odd. Don't think about doing any work in the room, the "desk" is way too high and there were basically no electrical outlets in the room anywhere. Finally, does anyone actually get in one of those silly little cold water pools on a hotel room balcony? A nice table and/or set of lounge chairs would be much more useful.

Nice hotel right on the beach
I enjoyed my 4-day stay at the La Tranquila. I would recommend this beach/resort over the crowded and overpriced beach town of Sayulita (which has lost much of its secret charm over the last 5 years)... There are numerous large pools that are great for swimming laps, and the beach is relatively quiet with great waves. The beach is very soft sand and fairly short (not much distance from hotel to water) so not great for jogging. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The food is delicious but probably a bit overpriced. Biggest issue, please be aware, is that hotel is relatively remote aside from the adjacent golf course and another hotel. So getting there would probably require a rental car. Also, I was only one of 4 guests in the entire hotel so it is extremely quiet and away from town/restaurants/nightlife if that's what you're looking for. On 2 occasions I came down to lobby and nobody (including staff) was around and it took me 10-15 minutes to find anybody staying or working in the hotel. The golf course nearby is nice, well-groomed, and $75 for green fees.

Beautiful grounds, but incomplete, and feels odd
The grounds of this hotel are beautiful. One of the most beautiful I've seen- infinity edge pool by the ocean, a row of small jacuzzis line the sandy beach, giant pools, etc. The problem is, it seems like they ran out of funds, and just stopped. Stopped construction, and stopped caring. There is only one restaurant open at a time for the entire resort, and their food is average. The pool bar is not completed. It's hard to enjoy the beauty when there is no service to be had- no poolside margaritas for you! The entire place just feels weird, as there is very minimal staff here, and not many other guests. There is no entertainment- none. If your goal is total and complete isolation, this is the place for you. We were disappointed, because having options for things to do would have been nice. I would not stay here next time we're in Nayarit. There is also zero privacy in the restroom area of the rooms- the door to the toilet is clear glass- not even frosted! The shower and tub is out in the open, and also encased in clear glass. If you are at all shy about everyone in your party seeing you bathe and use the toilet, skip this place. The jacuzzi tub also did not have hot water, so it was a pointless ornament in our room.

Very upset with the front desk
I stayed at La Tranquila because I was a guest at a wedding at the four seasons. My bag was delayed at the airport, so the airline let me know that they would deliver my bag to the hotel when they retrieved it. I told the front desk, the bell hop, and concierge about this and they seemed happy to make sure they delivered it to me as soon as they got it. They received it the night before I was to check out and did not let me know they had it and did not give it to me as I said good bye amd asked if they received it yet. I didn't find this out until I got home. The airline told me that they had detained my bag because I did not pay my bill. I called them and they said my bill was in fact payed. And did not have a reason why they held on to my bag that I had expressed how bad I needed. I didn't have anything, no toiletries, no undergarments, no dress or shoes or makeup for the wedding. They knew this. I am so displeased with the way they handled this that I will never stay there again. It's a shame to, because the hotel is beautiful and tranquil.

Total peace at La Tranquila, Punta Mita, MX
Gorgeous hotel and property, very nice staff; however, as in most Mexican territories be prepared to be asked to sit in on a 90 min. presentation for part ownership units. The benefits they offer are enticing (2 for 1 massages, 20% off all hotel food and beverage, a free lunch on the day of your presentation). Warning: we heard that the hotel is in financial trouble…grave trouble….so buyers beware. Overall, we would definitely return to this property because it was so beautiful and peaceful with friendly staff. However, if they can get out of trouble and actually complete the property fully (currently only about 1/4 of the way built), then this property would be utterly amazing! But with one cafe and one small dining area/bar, it's lacking variety, and the spa has not been built yet, nor the large sports bar in the middle of the pools…so tons of potential!

My husband and I visited this hotel after a week with 17 family members in Nuevo Vallarta. It was quiet and peaceful which was exactly what we were looking for. The pool service, restaurant and bell boy service was great! The grounds were impeccable and the pools beautiful. Now the cons - The front desk service was horrible, they could not exchange money, did not know facts about golf they offered and were very slow. The gym was nice but lacked water, towels and anything to clean the equipment and the ac did not work in there. Having a spa in a name of a hotel you would expect a nice spa. This place had a room they used for massages and no spa. The room was very nice we had but was lacking in towels. They gave us one towel each. Had no bath towel, wash cloths or hand towels.

Great option if you like a relaxing environment
The hotel is in a Golf property that houses two hotels, the "Iberostar playa mita" (another hotel which looks more "common" i.e. more like the all inclusive type, it looked more crowded and not that special at least from the outside) and "La Tranquila". The Tranquila areas are beautiful and very well kept, staff is very profesional and courteous, room was very spacious and had excellent distribution including a bath tub inside and a small two person pool on the outside terrace overlooking the hotel areas and sea. What i really liked was that the hotel was not crowded with people, there was almost no one there when you went out to the pools or sea, no music playing or when they did have some it was only in certain areas and very soft so you would hardly notice it. The pools are so big you can be on one side and not even know who might be swimming on the other end, the beach area is very clean, well kept and you would have it all to yourself, some people walking by from the other hotels in the area but it is great if you like to have the beach to yourself. The pool restaurant staff was very attending but at the same time they were not all over you trying to force any food or drinks, food was not A+ but not bad at all, i'm a vegan so i didnt eat much, if you're a meat/fish eater the food may be great as the chefs looked like pro's. Overall great vacation, i would recommend it for adults, i would assume kids would not have as much fun in a quiet, relaxing environment.
