Escape from the tech-connected, day-to-day at Elk Meadows Cottage

Families or groups seeking an escape from the tech-connected, day-to-day news and social media could not find a better retreat than Elk Meadows Cottage.

ABOUT ELK MEADOWS COTTAGE

No internet, no cable television. Here you set your own schedule, follow your dreams and imagine new horizons.

This home has been lovingly built by the owners on their 10-acre property to offer you a welcome hiatus from your day-to-day. While here, you'll be surrounded by forest with hiking trials through the property to a pleasant creek. There are many other trailheads just minutes away, including some into Goat Rocks Wilderness.

Hang out on the covered wraparound porch and enjoy the wildlife - including deer, elk, eagles and a variety of other birds and critters - that meander through the property. If you enjoy outdoor cooking, there's a gas barbeque to help you indulge your inner grill master.

The living room, with vaulted ceiling, wood burning stone fireplace and comfortable furnishings, is perfect for curling up with a book or pulling out the puzzles and games to play with the kids. Or enjoy one of the provided DVD movies on the television.

MORE ABOUT ELK MEADOWS COTTAGE

With the kitchen and dining room adjoining the living area, everyone can share in the fun. The dining room has room for up to eight and the kitchen bar with seating encourages conversations with the chef. Of course, we've provided plenty of dinnerware, pots and pans, and cooking utensils.

In the primary bedroom on the first floor, you'll find a king-sized bed. On the second floor, the second bedroom has a queen. Then, a sleeping loft features a queen bed and a full-sized futon. Two bathrooms are available, one on the first floor with a private toilet room, shower and washer and dryer; one with a shower and luxurious Jacuzzi tub. You will find all the linens and towels you need.

In spite of how remote you might feel while you're here, you'll find that Packwood is just one mile away, so replenishing supplies or grabbing some takeout is quick and easy. You'll also find easy access to many outdoor activities, like fishing, skiing and mountain climbing, and recreation areas, like Mount Rainier (30 minutes away), Mount St. Helens (one hour away) and White Pass (30 minutes).

Best Time Ever
This property has it all. They have thought of everything. It is secluded down a little road so you feel that you are in the middle of nowhere. So close to Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helen’s. We just had a delightful time. Rather than going out to dinner on our second night, we bought NY Strips and had them on the grill. I would come back here in a heartbeat. The check in- out process was seamless. One of THE BEST VRBO’s we’ve ever stayed at.

Magical Getaway
We visited Mount Rainier with our daughter for her 18th bday/graduation present. This cozy home was located only 15 minutes from the park entrance so it was very convenient for our stay! The house was spacious with wonderfully hot water that never ran out (which felt great after our long hikes!) and gorgeous views from the front porch. There is a nice stream just down a little path on the property that was nice to sit by. The house was well stocked with all the items we needed during our stay.

My family loved the place as soon as we arrived!! We had a good time there and to be honest, my kids didn't want to leave!!! We vacated the property at before 11am.. but stayed outside to play with the horseshoe till the cleaner arrived :P we were quite embarrassed but it showed how much we loved the place!

Packwood
The cabin is very private and secluded though, you can clearly hear the highway traffic. Later in the evening, once traffic died down, we heard owls, elk and other creations. We also had elk walk thru the property in the morning. The location is perfect for visiting Mt. Rainer and the national forest.

Elk Meadows Cottage was wonderful
We had an amazing time at Elk Meadows. The cabin design, furnishings, art exceeded our expectations. The deck area, the firepit, the wood stove were excellent to use. The location was very private, access to the town was convenient, the town itself is fun and proximity to White Pass is convenient. Highway 12 is quite a scenic drive! For my family, getting approval to bring our well-behaved dog sealed the deal.

Packwood trip
Amazing location, secluded, wildlife around but still less than 10 mins to town. Had a great time especially lounging on the deck with the dog . Plenty of space for adults to chat while teens did their own thing .. And there is a phone signal at the cabin!
