Historical 3-star hotel at 4 star price, that covered only one guest; $24 for my husband. 2 nice robes; 3-star-quality towels; no coffee maker; hot water carafe with 1 hot chocolate packet, 1 tea bag, 2 instant coffee packets.

OK place but bad service. Not what we expected.
Our stay started with a bellperson ripping my room key out of my hand and basically throwing our luggage in the door. Not quite what I expected or maybe she was having a bad customer day. This is an older hotel and there have been very few plug-ins replaced so if you expect to charge your phone or your computer bring some duct tape to tape them to the outlet. The rooms are very dark as is the bathroom so if you need to put on makeup, bring a window mirror. Breakfast service is low quality and if you can find someone to take an order or bring you coffee, you will be lucky. We noticed couples leaving after finding a table and waiting for 10-15 minutes to get waited on. We made dinner reservations in advance at the hotel and Mark was our server and a very good server I have to say. Dinner quality was much better than breakfast. Overall, we like to stay in a quality hotel and expect to pay more, but this one needs some serious management help.

This is an historic building that has been wonderfully restored. The atmosphere was lovely; the room was decorated historically, but still was beautiful and very functional. We enjoyed the hotel very much, with one exception. The check-in process was not great. It has a 4:00 check-in time which is quite late when traveling. And the check-in staff were young people who were not very well trained in hospitality. The girl who checked us in was chewing her nails even while we were asking her questions, which she was not prepared to answer. We also want to add a suggestion to the hotel - we wished that the staff (front desk and waiters in the dining room) were in period costumes to carry out the experience of staying in this historic hotel! Finally, the restaurant was fabulous! A bit pricey but the food and service were outstanding! We definitely recommend this hotel!

We arrived at the property at 1.5 hours before the 4 p.m. check in. We very politely asked if it was possible to get in early. She told us 4 times during the course of taking our license and information that the stated check-in was 4 p.m. Once would have done it; we graciously accepted her response.

Had to ring for reception every time we had a question or request. After checking in we were asked on 3 different occasions while in the reception area if we wanted to check in. No one could recommend a place to have lunch except a trucker stop???The bath tub backed up and would not drain. The reception appeared unconcerned and we left without bathing. Dinner was mediocre but the server, Mark, was excellent.

Worth a stay
Nice historic property in the heart of Baker City. We had a large king suite, so it was roomy and relaxing for a 2 day stay. Staff was mixed; while none were rude, at least one was indifferent, and another was being trained so slow and typical novice clumsy. Not at all to be faulted.
