Basic tiny cottage with typical cottage quirks
Great communication with the owners who were very responsive when the front door lock didn't work and who provided us with a functioning BBQ and helped us fix some TV service issues.Lovely people. The cottage is basic, with typical cottage quirks. No shower, ( a tub with handheld shower wand)and no swimming at the cottage. The mattresses were typical for cottages - one too firm and the other too soft. Bedrooms are small and hot.Fabulous quilts adorned the beds though. Lots of pots and pans. Great sharp knives.. Beware the oven runs 100 degrees hotter than what it's set at - I didn't see that note until the last day! The place would benefit from a good scrub - but it's a cottage ! The owners park their cars on the lot as they come and go to their personal cottage on a nearby island.. not at all an issue - they let us know by text when they planned to be on the property. We were there during a hot spell and the two bedroom fans ( also both a bit grimy) couldn't keep up. It was quite buggy outside, being surrounded by trees and a wetlands area out front - the owners did have some citronella candles and coils for us to use. Bring bug spray! There is a screened-in tent, but the bugs have managed to get in there, so we really didn't use it. We tried fishing off the dock, and took the canoe out for a paddle. The neighbours are lovely. All in all, it was too long in a small hot cabin for us. I think that a shorter stay in cooler weather would have been great..

Great Fishing Cottage
We had a great time staying at this cozy fishing cottage, the kids both caught fish for the first time, some of which were big enough to fry over the outdoor fire and eat! Great spot for kids to fish off the dock, the fish were very active. There was plenty of firewood and the house was well stocked with pots and pans etc. There are loons, turtles, otters and other friendly creatures, a real nature spot. Highly recommend for the serenity and a very comfortable cottage. We will absolutely consider staying here again. While swimming isn't on the cards off the dock because of the nature of those wetlands, there is a great little swimming beach in town a few minutes drive from the cottage, a great plus which the kids enjoyed a lot.

Fall getaway
It was my sister and I that stayed at the cottage for a week at the end of September. The cottage was small and cozy, which is what we like. We had a beautiful week of great weather and we loved the fact that the cottage was on a wetland. We like to swim if we can, but we enjoyed the water fowl very much. Geese and ducks and even herons. It was a very pretty spot. We arrived a little early and the owner was still there and it was very nice to meet her. A great stay all around. Judy.

What a cosy, comfortable place! We enjoyed the lake, the cottage, and the surrounding area to explore. The cottage is a real "home away from home". Details in the cottage give the impression of someone taking the time and thought to make you feel 'at home'. Thank you for a wonderful place! We hope to be back! Thank you Liz and Jane!

Quiet relaxing little spot
We loved our stay! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for our trip away. Morning visits from the hummingbirds and the evening visits from the bats were really cool to see. If you're planning on doing any real fishing you’ll want to bring your own boat however, although my 3yr old daughter did reel in her first fish! Ask about the shared swimming spot too. I found that info out from the neighbor but not until our last night. Great spot to get away

Relaxing Anniversary Vacation
This quaint property on Rideau Lake was the perfect choice for our 20 year anniversary getaway. My husband is an avid fisherman and the lake was more than accomodating. It's not a swimming area but there are close beaches for a dip in the water. Friendly locals, fun close shopping, great Poutine - a memorable stay, made even better by the hosts who gifted us with wine and cheese at our arrival. Excellent value with the private yard, deck, and lake access. And our lab was welcome too!

Everything was so easy from finding this getaway on the water to walking in the door of the cottage . Lots of windows to let the sunshine in. Beds were so comfy. The lake was wonderful to sit by in the early morning with a cup of coffee or at sundown with a wine.
