Welcome to our 'Cedar & Sea Cottage' rental, nestled in the heart of an enchanting cedar forest and just a ten-minute walk from the beach. Immerse yourself in nature and experience the peace and tranquility this unique location offers.
The Space
Our two-story cottage's rustic Scandi charm will make you feel right at home. It's perfect for snuggling up with a good book or sharing a glass of wine with friends. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
Both bedrooms of this private two storey home feature comfy queen-size beds, ideal for couples, families, or friends. If you need space for a fifth guest, we can set up the Daybed in the living room, which converts from a couch into a cozy bed.
Guest Access
Step into our serene forested yard, where giant cedars loom and sway gently. For an additional fee, we can prepare our magical wood-burning hot tub next to a gentle creek, and 30 meters from our main house. We also have a registered massage therapist on site. Nearby Dorris Lane leads to a beautiful forest path that eventually spills out onto the ocean beach.
Wood Fuelled Hot Tub Experience:
For a fee, and if not in use, we can prepare our wood fuelled Hot Tub for you. The experience is something special, and we're thrilled to offer it to our guests. Our pricing for this unique experience is $150CAD per night, and I want to share a bit more about why it's priced this way.
Preparing the hot tub is a labor of love for us, taking around 5 hours each time. We change the water over with every new guest and take pride in using pristine melt water from our creek, without any harsh chemicals. Instead, to clean, we add just a touch of natural Castile soap, a dash of vinegar, and a whole lot of elbow grease – this ensures a mineral rich, chemical-free soak. Achieving the ideal temperature with our wood stove is also a meticulous and laborious task, consuming four large wheelbarrows of chopped wood to reach the desired warmth. The result is an experience like no other, where you can relax in fresh water to the sound of crackling fire and without any chemical odours.
After each guest's use, we return the water back to the creek, leaving it as pure as when we borrowed it for your enjoyment.
Beyond the hot tub itself, the setting is truly magical. Majestic cedar trees sway gently overhead, and we enhance the ambiance with soft candlelight. Cold beverages can also be arranged. And if you're a fan of cold plunges, steps outside the tub lead down to a refreshing pool in the icy waters of the creek.
As the Hot Tub is essentially an open-air-wood-stove, we are not permitted to operate it when there is a regional fire ban. Fire bans over the last years have started in June and end in October.
We hope this explanation helps you understand how we've arrived at our pricing for this soothing activity. If you'd like to reserve this experience, please let us know. We'd be delighted to prepare this for you.
