Authentic 18th c Farmhouse with heated pool (and fiber optic WIFI)

Stone and wood home with fireplaces and a fully equipped kitchen, windows opening to undeveloped hills and grassy fields, no urban noise, no cars passing by, just frogs at night croaking in the pond below and birds chirping in the morning. A new and fantastic heated (!) swimming pool has been added - 4 meters x 13 meters, ideal for laps or just playing. It is protected by an electric sliding cover which is invisible (submerged) when opened. Enjoy it after your stops at historical chateaux in the vicinity. or hiking in the countryside of Dordogne Perigord Vert.

Our country house Le Puy Chapon is a family home full of history. It is part of a hamlet of four stone houses perched atop a hill overlooking a valley watered by a stream, the Ravillou. Long ago Le Puy Chapon housed the farm manager for the local land owner living a few hundred metres away. It is renovated for comfort but retains it's charm and offers an exceptional view. Many acres of pastures surround the property making it a quiet and secluded heaven troubled only by the daily passage of the postman! Do note that there is NO plasterboard or 'modern' building materials used in the house. It is an authentic farm house with beams galore. The swimming pool, on the other hand, is top of the line and extremely high tech. It is surrounded by a wide terrace covered with natural stone.

A master bedroom overlooking the valley, a quiet bedroom on the same floor, two upstairs bedrooms with overhead beams and unencumbered views over the hillsides. Slightly downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen and stairs leading to a large living area and patio. Thick stone walls. There is a washer and dryer, large outbuilding for your car and smaller undeveloped house for kids to explore. Sheets and towels are provided.

The kitchen is stocked with starter coffee (ground), tea bags (if you like loose tea, do bring a supply), olive oil and balsamic vinegar as well as a bottle of rose wine to get you off to a good start ! There is a small store in the village (3km) and a major supermarket in Excideuil (8km).

My cousin lives in a village 3 km away above Saint Germain des Pres, there is an English family in the hameau nearby, a Belgian gentleman and a French couple. That's the circle - unencumbered but not totally isolated. Corinne, a local caretaker, will welcome you and help you get started.

Perfect location to discover the area
Lovely views from the pool out across French countryside. Pool is modern, clean and good size. Some issues with the electric cover, but that was down to a failed sensor which is on order. House is lovely and unspoilt, we loved it. But for some the interior lighting might be on the dim side. This did not bother us as we were out by the pool most of the time. There are alot of steps to negotiate, some steep and narrow. Again, we were fine with it but worth noting. Overall we would highly recommend it, quite a find !

Fantastic peaceful house in countryside with lovely views and fantastic pool.
We had a fantastic week enjoying this lovely peaceful house. The house is well equipped, has lovely views and the amazing swimming pool was thoroughly used given the hot weather. We are already thinking about when we can visit again.

Living the dream in the Dordogne
The house is located at the top of of small valley where each morning the sun rises above the opposite slope. The master bedroom is the perfect location to watch or just let the sum do it's job: gently wake you ease you into the day. From there we usually enjoyed an early morning dip in the heated pool followed by long breakfasts on the patio with locally sourced food (Boclet Bernard in Thiviers has amazing Croissants). For cyclists the house is located in a quite little hamlet with lots of backroads allowing you to cycle peacefully to the shops in the different villages and towns nearby. The house has everything you need for a stay in the countryside including plenty of room for large families. The quirkiness of the layout of the house added to the experience. It had all the amenities we needed for our 2 weeks. The house is a short drive from many of the location that feature in the Dordogne to do lists. Brantomme Saint Jean de Cole Sarlat Domme Lascaux etc We had a wonderful time. Thanks Cathy

Beautiful old house full of character would be interesting to know more of the history, everything you need in the kitchen bedrooms worked well with older children in the group, pool was perfect not overlooked and plenty of shaded areas when needed, would definitely recommend this property

A very peaceful house with beautiful pool and views
The house is tucked away at the end of a quiet hamlet and is very peaceful, with a gorgeous pool with wonderful views. The house itself is cool and comfortable with plenty of space. There is a double bedroom, a single bedroom, a room with twin beds, and a narrow double bed, so the house really sleeps 6, and only 7 if there are 2 couples. The single beds in the room with twin beds are attractive old wooden beds but not very comfortable and more comfortable beds would be a good improvement. The only other potential drawback is that there are lots of steps up and down between the different levels in the house so this would not be a great house for parents with toddlers! But there was always plenty of piping hot water, the linen was lovely and clean, everything was in good working order, The pool was divine, the deck loungers very comfortable, there is a good awning for eating in the shade beside the pool & there is even a poolside shower. A lot of thought has gone into making this very attractive and welcoming. We loved it and certainly hope to return.

Grootste pluspunt is het zwembad en de netheid van het huis. Huis zelf is in 5 verschillende verdiepen: verdiep zwembad 3 tredes hoger living en was gedeelte nog 5 tredes hoger keuken en badkamer dan 2 tredes hoger slaapkamer en dan 10 treden hoger zolder met 2 slaapkamers.. veel niveaus dus oud huis wel en zolderkamer zeer warm in putje zomer.. grote tip aan de eigenaars plaatsen van horren tegen het ongedierte van buiten.

Een prettig en stil gelegen huis, met alles dat nodig is.
Mijn dochter, schoonzoon, hun twee kinderen en ik hebben een bijzonder prettig verblijf gehad in Cathy’s woning. Het huis ligt behoorlijk afgelegen, in een groepje van drie woningen, waar je de buren niet merkt. De ontvangst was bijzonder prettig, evenals de afsluiting, in ons geval door huismeester Corinne. Zeker een woning om te overwegen, als je van stilte en rust houdt.

Une jolie maison dans la verdure, au calme. La maison est bien équipée et la literie est excellente. L’intérieur est un peu sombre mais finalement très agréable malgré les escaliers. La terrasse et la piscine sont de vrais atouts.

Nous avons passé 15 jours tres agréables dans la région. La maison est effectivement une vieille dame, avec beaucoup de charme et des parties rénovées appréciables. Maison sur plusieurs niveaux ce qui n’est pas toujours très pratique avec des enfants en bas âge. Le jardin, la piscine et la vue sur les champs sont incroyables. Un peu de vis à vis avec les voisins mais cela Ne nous a pas dérangé. Nous recommandons la maison et la Région. Merci encore pour l’accueil chaleureux!
