Jardiniers Cottage set in quiet location just outside village

A traditional stone cottage over looking open fields and is situated just outside a small village. The cottage has been recently beautifully renovated, consisting of fully fitted kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, oven, microwave and dining area. A lounge with television (freesat English programs), DVD player, underfloor heating and a wood burning stove for the cooler months. Wood beams throughout and tastefully decorated in neutral pallet..
Upstairs a large bedroom with king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table plus ensuite shower and toilet.
Outside a large terrace, lawned area and garden looking over fields and woodland. Ideally suited for a couple, but will also accomodate up to two young children, a cot and bed settee being provided if necessary.

The property is approximately 1km from the Chateau Fenelon and ideally situated for trips to the medieval cities of Sarlat,, Souillac and Gourdon all within approximately 15kms, with Dome, Roque Gageac, Castlenaud, Beynac are also all within easy reach.

The Dordogne river is within walking distance and there are Canoes to rent close by. The local area is well known by walkers having several circular walks from the village and there is also a cycle path just a few kilometres away.

Sainte-Mondane-For several years now we have been traveling in France, renting houses and apartments along the way. It is very rare when a rental exceeds your expectations, but this rental, called the Jardinier’s Cottage, in Sainte-Mondane, not only exceeded them but far surpassed in comfort and beauty any other rental we have stayed in. Down a country lane, surrounded by meadows and forest, the cottage was tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, with a well-appointed kitchen (all the cooking tools you could want), a beautiful garden, and is located very near the town of Sarlat-la-Canéda where boulangeries, cheese shops, épiceries, and wine shops abound. Our hosts Chris and Lin were so very helpful, treated us like kindred spirits, and made our stay there exceptionally comfortable. Perfect base to rest and explore.
Jardinier cottage is all it promised to be. Quiet, restful, spacious and beautifully restored with a super comfy sofa and bed. We loved the semi-rural location with complete quiet and the short drives to explore were a delight of quiet pretty roads that meandered through ancient beautiful villages, Sarlat within easy reach. The hosts go the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable with great amenities and you feel truly welcomed with bread, wine and cheese, it was a so appreciated. Highly recommend!

An absolute gem!
We had a wonderful few days here - the gite is outstanding. We were warmly welcomed by Chris on arrival and we were so grateful for the extremely generous welcome pack. The best we have ever had! Thank you very much. The gite was spotlessly clean which makes such a difference. Lin and Chris have obviously worked hard to make sure their guests have a relaxing and happy time. They have thought of everything including lots of little extra touches. The furnishings are very tasteful, the kitchen is very well equipped, the bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough for us to sit outside much, but the garden area is really quiet and pretty. The location is perfect. We explored the area on our bikes - there are plenty of quiet roads and the voie verte is nearby. We would highly recommend this lovely gite. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Fairytale cottage nestled in rural Dordogne
Even more beautiful in real life than the photos, the heritage building and setting of this gite are both amazing! Inside, it is comfortable, spaceous and well-appointed. It was the perfect home base for our introduction to the Dordogne / Perigord Noir region; close to many of the major attractions. The idyllic nature of the gite was matched only by the warmth and attentiveness of the hosts, Chris and Lin! For example, when we took a wrong turn on our way to arriving at Sainte Mondane, Chris was very responsive by email and called us right away to offer help with directions. This stay was the perfect beginng to our trip to France to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary, and we would recommend it to anyone!

A Perfect Holiday Home
If you are lucky enough to stay here, you will understand completely why I say this is a perfect place to be for a holiday. The home was immaculate and not cluttered with an owner’s unwanted leftovers. It was completely planned for a couple to be in a soothing environment. Every detail was thought out. The garden was perfect for sitting and reading or having a picnic supper. The home had comfy chairs for reading. It was hard to leave each morning to tour. Lots of wonderful spots were close by and there were walks all around the area. The kitchen was perfect. In fact, the whole place was perfect.

Hidden gem in the heart of Dordogne
For our second stay with Chris and Lin at Sainte-Mondane, everything was once again... perfect. 'Gite'/Cottage is ideal for a couple, clean, practical and well-equipped. Chris and Lin give you the loveliest welcome and are always happy to help during your stay. The surroundings are very peaceful and perfect for walks (to the Chateau de Fenelon for instance). And you might even see a deer! Also ideal if you want to explore Perigord and the Dordogne valley (Beynac, Castelnaud, Sarlat, Lascaux...). In short, you won't be disappointed if you book with C&L in their lovely cottage, and will only want to go back!

Absolutely delightful find in this wonderful region of France. Chris and Lin are extremely welcoming, thoughtful hosts who have put a lot of care into making their a Gite a comfortable, relaxing and very attractive place to stay. A stunning up-to-date home from home. Please do visit here out of season...the Gite is warm especially with the underfloor heating and efficient wood burner. The area is very attractive with rolling countryside and an abundance of lovely historic buildings and attractive towns, villages and hamlets. Fabulous area for exploring! We definitely are looking forward to returning. Thank you Chris and Lin.

A wonderful retreat in homely gite
We were greeted with a very warm welcome on arrival by our hosts Chris and Lin - who prepared a basket of treats for us, too. This beautifully decorated and upmarket gite was everything we could have hoped for and more. It has all of the necessary amenities you could imagine so you will feel right at home here in Sainte-Mondane. This is the ideal location for guests who like us are looking for a peaceful getaway in Perigord. The outdoor space and seating area are a great place to unwind after a day of exploring the many nearby sights. You will be hard pushed to find a better holiday home in this area. A truly memorable trip!

Simply The Best
The most wonderful gite to spend a holiday. Ideally situated on the edge of a small village up a quiet lane surrounded by woods and countryside. The stone property looks beautiful and inside is exceptional. The lounge/diner has all required appliances and the impressive decor makes it a wonderful setting. The bathroom has an excellent shower and fittings. We loved the large spacious bedroom with the exposed beams. There is nothing to fault this most wonderful gite at all. The property is ideally situated being only 10km from Sarlat and within easy reach of the areas many attractions and places of interest . Chris & Lin are ideal hosts and always helpful and very informative about the local area and it's exceptional wildlife. Visits to the garden by deer and red squirrels were a delight. A welcoming basket of goodies was very much appreciated. We had the most incredible weather every day and stayed in this most beautiful and excellent property. Thank you Chris & Lin !

My perfect find in the Dordogne!
Couldn't have been better! Beautiful area, in the country, but just outside a small village. Beautifully renovated old stone casita. The outside and the inside equally charming. The kitchen was totally outfitted for cooking in- house, the bathroom perfect. Chris and Lin were wonderful in every way, helping us whenever we needed it. The living room was comfortable for reading on a rainy day and the easy drive to Sarlat was postcard- picturesque. Loved our stay!

Charmant huisje in de Dordogne
Wij hebben een heel fijne week gehad in dit charmante huisje. Het is gezellig en compleet ingericht. De foto’s geven een goed beeld van het interieur. Buiten vonden wij het zelfs leuker dan we ons hadden voorgesteld. Het huisje heeft een ruime eigen tuin, heerlijk in het groen, van waaruit je uitkijkt op bomen en een veld waarin we ‘s avonds af en toe reeën zagen komen. Het is er heel rustig, maar toch centraal gelegen en daardoor een prima uitvalsbasis voor allerlei activiteiten en bezienswaardigheden. We werden heel hartelijk ontvangen door de Britse eigenaren, die zelf in het huis ernaast wonen. Beide huizen en tuinen hebben overigens volledige privacy. We kunnen dit huisje zeker aanraden!

Wunderschönes Haus in friedlicher Umgebung
Ein wunderschönes Haus, schön gelegen und geschmackvoll ausgestattet. Herrliche Terrasse, wo man nur die Grillen und Vögel hört. Schön angelegter kleiner Garten und drumherum Wiesen voller Orchideen. Wir haben jeden einzelnen Tag sehr genossen. Liebevoll auch der Korb mit ersten Lebensmitteln auf dem Tisch. Vielen Dank an die freundlichen Gastgeber Chris und Lin!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. La maison est conforme à la description, très propre, très bonne agréable. Nous avons apprécié le panier très bien garni à nôtre arrivée. Chris et Lyn habitent près du gîte mais sont très discrets .
