Accommodation is rare in the middle of San Carlos. Make sure you book months in advance, as there is only 1 place to stay within 10 kilometres.

Wotif suggests securing a room at the Hotel Fasano Punta del Este, as it's the only available hotel near all the action.

The Posada San Diego is positioned 16 kilometres from the main part of San Carlos. Alternatively, the Palafitos is 25 kilometres away. Two more hotels are the Kala Hotel Boutique and the Mantra Resort Spa Casino.

13 kilometres to the south of San Carlos is Punta del Este, where you can enjoy the Bikini Beach, Brava Beach and Mansa Beach.
