Let’s make it clear, this place was a disappointment. Ok, the location is amazing, but this is almost it, 1st, the check in try to be over the top, oversold, totally unnecessary, border line too intrusive. This place pretend to be an exclusive adult only hotel… bedroom was dirty, the greasy floor is unacceptable, if you stay more than 1 night, you’ll have to ask a housekeeping service, this is the new thing! We’ve asked for it, they never turned up! the bedroom tiny, and the micro bathroom certainly not worth 250$/night. Some of the front of house staff are lovely, some others on the passive agressive side This place is close to be a YMCA, not a boutique hotel. Do we gonna return, off course not

We couldn't have loved this place any more!
Long gushing review ahead: I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. We've traveled all over and this is one of our favorite places we've ever stayed (if not THE favorite). We walked in after a full day of travel and were greeted by lovely staff members. They grabbed our bag and immediately told us to have a seat and relax, and asked if they could make us a drink (they were delicious!). Usually when I've been at an open bar, it almost seems like the bartender resents ordering multiple drinks. They kept offering more! And every time we came back, they offered drinks and asked if we'd like to take a soda, cocktail, or water out the door with us. They were just so generous. When we came in from a hot day of exploring, they handed us cold towelettes from the fridge that were infused with lemon oil, to help us feel refreshed. The service was just unbelievable. We felt so welcome and they helped us pick restaurants etc. The rooftop is charming! Great comfortable seating with a nice view. They also upgraded our room to a room with windows and a small balcony at no extra charge, and without us having to ask. We liked our room and found it spacious. It had a mini fridge, a place to hang clothing, and two luggage racks. The bathroom was small but we don't mind that. Really tall ceilings. Right across the street from our room was a church, and we were lucky enough to hear beautiful music from their service. I didn't find the street noise to be a bother, although I

Old but Charming
The hotel is very old which gives it its charm but with it comes some drawbacks. Pros - absolutely excellent location in old San Juan. Right in the heart of everything. The building has a lot of character given the age. Open bar is a nice feature. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Cons - there isn’t an elevator. I think there a five floors so that can be an issue. They took care of our luggage arriving and departing. Rooms are small and simple.

I’ve never felt so welcome staying at a hotel! When we checked in we were warmly greeted by staff and offered a complimentary beverage while our luggage was carried to our room. The room was small, but clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The rooftop lounge area was great. The location was perfect for exploring Old San Juan. We would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to our friends.

The room and overall property was very dirty. The shower was very hard to maneuver. The water was either very cold or very hot with no in between. They don’t clean al all. My family member was staying at another property down the street and he would come to pick us up and they wouldn’t even allow him in the lobby because the said he might stay over night. Unbelievable.

The customer service is superb! The frontline staff is knowledgeable and welcoming! When you stay at The Colonial, you feel at home. Cristian made our stay enjoyable, he explained every aspect of the hotel and provided many local recommendation's. The rooms are comfortable, they do not provide parking, but you get a daily discount in parking lot near by. All the drinks are included in your stay. We also received an room upgrade. Definitely staying at The Colonial next time.
