Sant’Antioco Text
The 4 bedroom traditional Sardinian villa located atop the first line of hills with a front view of the mediterranean sea is the ultimate destination for sport-oriented families and groups of friends.
Situated in the far South of Sardinia, on the verdant isle of Sant’Antioco which is linked to the main island of Sardinia by an artificial isthmus just one hour away from Cagliari airport. The house, a luminous white villa is placed atop a hill with a direct view of the sea and is a mere 5 min walk to the closest beach, known locally as 'Cala Della Signora'. This rock cove offers flat rocky areas to sunbathe, 3m, 5m, and 10m ledges for cliff jumping, and the crystalline Sardinian clear water great for cruising around in snorkeling gear to admire the local fish colonies and the occasional funny octopuses and crayfish.
On the island of Sant'antioco take place many water sports such as Surfing at the local pointbreaks which activate on medium to strong swells from W-NW forming a consistent steep, barreling wave over 100m on rock bottom. Pointbreaks and beach breaks are located a 10-minute drive away from the house.
In the lagoon of Sant'antioco and 20-minute drive away from the house lies the windsurfing and Kitesurfing spots of Sa'Barra, Porto Botte, and Punta Trettu. These wind spots are great for freestyle as the shallow sand water and the wind channeled in between the Sardinia island and the Sant'Antioco channel create strong consistent gusts from thermal summer winds and flat water to getting planing. On flat days, the incredible islands of Sant Antioco and the smaller Island of San Pietro a short 20 min ferry ride from Sant Antioco, have stunning little corners to explore by mountain bike, road bike, and horseriding alike. Moreover, the 20m cliffs on the North Western part of Sant Antioco well know rock climbing spots to local Sardinian rock climbers, and the jaw-dropping cliff climbs on the edge of the water have challenging routes of all levels.
The hosts of this house are the young members of a Northern Italian family who has been vacationing in this wild and active corner of Sardinia for the past 50 years. Very passionate about surfing, windsurfing, kitesurf, cycling, and climbing they will be able to answer your questions on the various spots around the South of Sardinia.
