106 acre Farm with Animals, River & Private Pond, near Wineries and Breweries

Escape to Riverview at Belle Meade Farm, a magnificent 106-acre estate overlooking the James River, once owned by Thomas Jefferson's family. Nestled in the serene countryside, our property is just a mile away from the charming historic downtown of Scottsville, and a short 25-minute drive to Charlottesville, Monticello, UVA, and many award winning wineries and breweries.

Experience the ultimate outdoor adventure by indulging in a plethora of activities, including catch and release fishing in our stocked pond, tubing in the river, or exploring the one-mile biking and walking trails. The building itself is perched on the highest point of the farm and features an exclusive, private 1200 square ft space with breathtaking views of the James River. The space boasts two spacious bedrooms with plush, brand new Casper queen mattresses, a full bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen, an adjacent dining area with a bar sitting area, and a cozy living room with two couches, one of which converts to a comfortable queen bed. The living room also has an electric fireplace, a TV, and a game area for the kids, complete with board games.

Step outside to our dedicated backyard area with patio furniture and a fire pit, perfect for unwinding and soaking up the stunning views. For your convenience, a brand new washing machine and steam dryer are located in the kitchen area, and complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks are provided upon check-in.

At Riverview at Belle Meade Farm, you'll have the opportunity to interact with many friendly animals, including our three friendly dogs, cats, and other animals as well. Our friendly dogs, Abby, Lucy, and Sweetie, love attention from children and adults alike. The cats are always happy to greet guests, and the white cat named "Angel" is a favorite and loves to lounge around in the driveway. We kindly request that you don't bring your own pets, as we have plenty to keep you company.

Explore the property at your leisure and indulge in petting our animals, but please ensure that children are always supervised. Our personal house is just a couple of hundred feet away, and while we may be working around the farm, we'll respect your privacy. You'll have the entire second floor of the building to yourselves with a private entrance however, you will have to walk up a flight of stairs to access this area. The first floor consists of an office/storage area and a long-term rental unit where our farm caregiver resides named Jon. He has become a great friend of our family and is always happy to help out with farm tasks and helps take care of the animals. He is very helpful and if you see him outside around the farm he can help introduce you to some of the animals if you would like!

Enjoy over one mile of gravel road by taking a hike or bike ride through the rolling hills or stroll along the driveway or woods, but please don't venture past the two barns as it's a private residence. You can also walk, bike, or drive down the gravel road to our private river entrance, or follow the marked pond trail to access our beautiful pond.

At Riverview at Belle Meade Farm, we're committed to ecological sustainability and have honey bee hives on the property (at a safe distance from your living quarters) to support the health of our crops. Our property is located in the first bee city in the State of Virginia! Verizon, US Cellular, and Sprint/T-mobile have service in our area, but you may wish to check with your carrier to be sure of your coverage. There is a ring camera that views only the parking lot area of the vacation rental

Peaceful and friendly escape doing wineries and weddings.
Booked for proximity to wedding at Mt Ida and wineries, and delighted we did. Super well appointed, peaceful, friendly host family, and equally friendly host furfamily! Highly recommend for a very comfortable stay while taking in the peace of the acreage, paths to James River and property pond, fire pit, proximity to great wineries, and beautifully kept guest home. Would have paid 2x for this experience, so great value!

Roo’s Place
Such a lovely stay!! Everything was comfortable, clean, and lots of space to relax and unwind. I don't usually book a shared home, but was sold on the animals. Homeowners were so sweet checking in on us when we arrived while also granting the privacy expected for a booking. Just perfect. A highlight of our stay was the walk to the pond. One of the baby cows, we named Roo, came to greet us and was so precious letting us pet him. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Great house
Excellent location, has almost everything you will need (from towels to ironing board plus so much more) - Host is great - has everything setup when you get there and a lot to do on the property itself. Clean, full kitchen (with pots and pans), laundry, and so much more. It is on the second floor with somewhat steep steps (wouldn't be ideal for handicap). But overall definitely an excellent rating and would recommend both the place and the host.

Excellent Farm Location!
We needed a couple nights away and wanted something out in nature, but close to good places to eat and things to do, well, this was it! Such a cute little place, all three of us agreed, and a great value. The animals were a huge selling point for us and they were great! Such sweet dogs and the cows were awesome. Two wanted to check us out and enjoyed some head scratches. And the wee baby finally gathered enough courage to get close enough for me to pet his little nose! We did wineries for lunch, and there are excellent ones within 30 minutes; and dinners in town, also very nice. We really enjoyed the Tavern, best wings we’ve ever had. Would definitely stay again!

Loved our stay at Riverview at Belle Meade!
We loved our stay at Riververmew at Belle Meade! This 200+ acre property overlooking the James River has do much to offer. We loved fishing in the stocked pond, walking down to the river, sitting out back in a relaxing setting, petting the adorable cats and cows, and driving to closeby downtown Scottsville for shopping, dining, and tubing down the river. Great for all ages! The property owners are very sweet and welcoming!

Beyond expectations..
Impeccably clean and modern amenities. Kitchen and bathrooms lacked nothing. Beds and pillows were luxuriously comfortable. Tranquil place in the country with short hike to the river and to the pond. About a 5 min drive to Scottsville and a scenic 25 min drive to Charlottesville. Realize that the living area is only the 2nd floor of the guest house and there are 2 bedrooms. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank you so much!

Scottsville hideaway is a gem!
Just 30 minutes outside of Charlottesville, this location is perfect for a "small town vibes" getaway. We visited over July 4th and were able to enjoy the fireworks from the front yard without having to navigate the crowds gathered closer to the river. The location is not far from two great wineries and, if you're willing to drive further, you have your choice of an array of wineries, breweries, and cideries. The hosts and their wide range of farm animals were very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a great option for your next getaway!

Absolutely Idillic
The farm was gorgeous, the hosts and their pets were incredibly friendly. Accommodations were fantastic, making us all feel comfortable. The access to the river and Scottsville made for plenty to do, the river swimming being especially fun as it is fairly shallow and not too swift for most swimmers. The property is gorgeous, as is the drive to it. Overall, well worth staying even just to get away from home and enjoy the peace amd quiet.

My family loved this place!! We so enjoyed hanging out with the cows, cats, and dogs. The home was well set up, clean, and had lots of convenient features. We had a great time at Pam's farm ! Everything was very clean and comfortable and it was great to be able to say hi to all the animals outside. Pam was the best host I've ever had with being an excellent communicator, giving us local recommendations, and even kindly delivering a cleaning product we needed for a pan! We really appreciated her place and wonderful hospitality. We would love to stay there again and would recommend her place to anyone.

A wonderful stay!
George and Pam's farm is lovely, so well-kept, and we enjoyed staying there very much! The upstairs of the house is just as shown in the photos, very clean, nicely decorated and appointed, all the the things you need for cooking and relaxing can be found there. George, Pam and their family were very warm, friendly and so helpful in recommending places for us to see and eat. Also, the animals were a wonderful addition....cows, dogs, cats, a horse, lots of birds. You can see the river in the distance from most windows. And we hiked down to the pond and river each morning and explored the many acres they have. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and tranquility of the farm and we will definitely stay again when we return to the Charlottesville area!
