Small but mighty: Immersed in nature, 10 minutes from Selfoss

This newly renovated little gem is offered for rent only since autumn 2015:
One enters the entrance hall with cloakroom and a small but functional kitchenette. From the vestibule, go straight to the shower room with WC. Links goes into it the living room and bedroom. There is a comfortable sofa bed (mattress width 1.60), a table with two chairs and a dresser. The room is bright and friendly and we look Trough the window into nature. The terrace has windbreak to the north and in the summer you can sit nicely with wide views to the southwest and west; down to the river, over the vast plain and the surrounding mountains. Sometimes here grazing horses in the pasture.

Quiet relaxing stay
We enjoyed our stay. The location was central for us to use as a hub to take day trips out and back from. It was just the right size for two. The guesthouse was clean and bright and we were greeted by chickens and a rooster upon arrival.

Best place to stay in southern Iceland
This place was clean, cozy and had everything I needed including wifi and a small kitchen. Everything that I wanted to visit was within a one hour distance in every direction. The price is fair. The place is quiet and beautiful surrounded by horses and nature. The views are breathtaking and at night if you are lucky you'll see every star in the sky and the northern lights like I did. Thanks Petra.

Phenomenal stay- we saw the aurora from the porch!
As stated, we managed to get a glimpse of the aurora from the porch, which was so nice at the end of our week long stay. When we first arrived, we had a minor issue with the WiFi and shower drain- Petra was responsive and fixed these issues immediately and even checked in with us later in the week. The cabin was a lovely place to come home to after long cold days in Iceland, and we would love to stay here again!

Hidden Gem
Beautiful property located just east of Selfoss with easy access to the southern region. 10 minutes outside of Selfoss where there are grocery stores, restaurants etc. Secluded with a beautiful river running through front of the property. You might even get to say hi to some chickens!

Perfect location in nature but close to town
Petra is a fantastic host and even lent us an appliance! She offers great recommendations to travel as well. The place itself was exactly as expected and had everything needed for a week stay for 2 people. The location gave us the feeling of being secluded in nature while still being close to town, charging/gas, and most importantly, easy access to the golden circle, black sand beach, waterfalls, hot springs and many other beautiful things Iceland has to offer with only a short drive! Hope to be back soon. Thanks!

Perfect location for natural beauty!
We loved staying here and would absolutely recommend for a couple. We could make breakfast there and have snacks stored in the fridge for a lunch on the road. We would HIGHLY recommend Krisp for dinner in Selfoss and the pub nearby. Petra was fabulous! We even got to see the Northern Lights briefly from the north-facing windows on our last night.

Perfect little cottage
I booked this place for my dad and sister to quarantine in leading up to my wedding in Iceland. Petra stocked the house with groceries for them and was very accommodating in so many ways. My family loved their stay and walking around the property to visit the horses.

Great cozy place; great host; great locale
Really a special little place. Scenic and peaceful, with animals all around, a view of a mountain, and great Icelandic atmosphere. Close to Selfoss, but far enough away to avoid tourist traffic. Petra the host was super helpful and kind. Definitely recommend for one or two (very familiar) people.

Loved it
We stayed here over Christmas and it was a magical experience. The location is ideal: a short drive from Selfoss but "in the middle of nowhere". 360 degree views that go in forever. Very peaceful. The cottage was all we had hoped for: super clean, cozy and warm. The Christmas lights were nice! Petra was very helpful and communicative. Would stay here again any time.

Wow! This place was absolutely perfect for my husband and my stay in Iceland. Great location, only an hour away from gorgeous waterfalls, 1.5/2 hours away from Black sand beach/Vik, and 45 minutes away from snorkeling Silfra.

Great location, great little place, great host!
Before we even checked in, we had some car trouble not too far from our Vrbo and Petra helped us from being stranded on the side of the road. We’re very grateful for her kindness and hospitality. The cabin has everything you need, and we really liked being out of the city but close enough to run to Selfoss if we needed something. Petra accommodated all of our needs and then some. We highly recommend staying here and would do it again if we come back! The cabin is clean and tidy, no complaints on our end! You MUST Stay here if you’re passing through Selfoss. We stayed a whole week!

We loved our stay at Petra's house near Sellfoss
Many thanks to Petra for a lovely stay! The small house provided a warm and private refuge after our days out. It was nicely and efficiently furnished, very clean and comfortable for the two of us. The directions were great and getting there was easy. We were very grateful for Petra's offers of assistance and recommendations while we were visiting. We would definitely recommend Petra's house to anyone visiting Iceland looking for a cozy and convenient place to stay. Scott and Pauline

Perfect place to stay when visiting Iceland
Wow is all I can say! This "small by mighty" house is the absolute perfect place to stay if you visit Iceland. It has all the amenities you need and then some! Loved the heated floors, the hot water, the wifi and many other comforts of home. We forgot our converter and Petra stepped up and brought us one! We used her suggestions for day travels and filled all four of our days from before sun up to long after sundown. We traveled to Vik and all the way to Husafell. Every stop was more spectacular than the previous. And to top it all off, we were able to see the Northern Lights on our last night there. Petra's property is just five minutes from Selfloss, so it is convenient if you need to pickup any groceries. In addition, it is just the right size for two people. The bed was comfortable and the whole house was plenty warm - and like I said - the heated floors were a bonus. We stayed warm every night even with 50 mph winds the one night and temp in the low 20's. We hope to come back in the summer to experience Iceland at a different time of year. Thanks again Petra for usage of your "small but mighty" home!
