Sleeps a max of 2 people, La Porcherie is a spacious 1 bedroomed gite set in 7 hectares of unspoilt and natural land, yet within 5 minutes car ride to the beautiful, bastide town of Eymet with its markets and many restaurants and bars and excellent for walkers and cyclists.
The bedroom is large and our kingsize bed is comfortable with a soft duvet and high quality bedding. All towels and linen are provided.
There is a bathroom with a bath and large walk in shower.
The living room is light and spacious with French doors onto a covered decked area.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and is fully equipped, and if you need to borrow anything else just let us know. The washer and dryer is in the pigeonaire tower.
For those of you wishing to work we have a dedicated connection for the gite if you wish to work inside or out. Fast and reliable.
The gite has its own private entrance with an entrance hall leading to steps up to the main gite areas. The whole gite is on 1 level for disabled guest as the entrance can be at the decked area at the back if the steps are a problem. There maybe a short walk over our lawn if it rains heavily.
We keep you comfortable whatever the season with warmth in winter and ceiling fans in summer. Thick walls protect from the summer heat.
The living area has comfortable leather sofas, a TV with English stations. Bookcases are full along with DVDs should you wish to borrow during your stay.
Outside, the decked area is covered and sheltered with a rural view. It is totally private and quiet for you to enjoy. It has lounging chairs and a table and chairs to enjoy al fresco dining. There is also a bbq, 2 sun loungers with cushions, 2 chairs with cushions and low table as well as a large table with chairs for dining outside.
It is an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts wanting to explore, experience and photograph the local wildlife. We have deer, sanglier ( wild boar), hares, rabbits as well as numerous birds including many birds of prey buzzards, kites, falcons, harrier, also herons, hoopoe and the exquisite song of the golden oriole. We have created our own nature trails taking you through our reserve, with a map just in case!
Many species of indigenous Orchids grow all over our land. The foot tall Lizard Orchids being a favourite. Situated on the southern tip of the Dordogne with its dramatic history, stunning bastide villages, wine, sunshine, chateaux, restaurants, night life, markets & vide greniers.
Our nearest airport is Bergerac, just 22 minutes drive away. Just 2 main roads. You won't get lost.
