Charge assessed by hotel after I returned to U.S.
We stayed at Shangri La Chengdu on March 27th, 2018. The stay was pleasant and the staff was very nice, as with most Shangri La hotels. We were also informed at check-in that the first round of the mini bar was free. We used the mini bar accordingly and there was no charge. We traveled to another city for 4 days and returned back to the same Shangri La hotel. This time, although we reserved the same club room, the room was a grade lower. No electric curtains, towels for only one person, etc. When I asked if the first round of mini bar would be free, I can tell that the staff reluctantly said yes. We used the mini bar slightly, just a little snack for my son. There was no mention of any charges for the mini bar at check out. However, Shangri La charged me $21 after I returned to the state. When I sent an email expressing the inappropriateness of the $21 charge. No response from the hotel. It's not so much the $21. It is the lacked of proper notice at check out and a lacked of professionalism. Basically, we had no say. I've traveled the world. This is not how other Shangri la hotels behave. Very disappointing.

We enjoyed our visit to the Shangri-la very much. The staff upgraded our two rooms to a family suite which was a wonderful surprise. The hotel was clean and situated in a perfect location. We enjoyed the lounge for happy hour and the breakfast had an endless selection of foods from all over the world.

It was ok, but too commercial. I booked two rooms, and requested a connected room, but the hotel did not aware that I have made the request when booking. Anyway, connected room was not available, and reception kept asking me to upgrade, but I rejected, then, the reception offered me another upgrade package which including breakfast, but it was expensive, so, I rejected again! The Shangri-La is located in a beautiful area along the river and there are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast in the lounge is quite extensive and good.
