About this space
Welcome to Montana! This house was built as an original homestead in the late 1800’s. So it comes with over a 100 years of Birdtail Ranch history. Located 1 mile west of Simms and a half a mile east of the main ranch house, this private house is enjoyable year-round with brilliant night skies and colorful sunsets.
The space
We strive to make this rural home an inspiring start to your day and a relaxing way to recharge after a long day of adventures.
The main room is set up with two twin sized day beds and a full sized couch pull-out. This room has a newly renovated bathroom attached.
The other bedroom has one king sized bed and access to the second bathroom/laundry room.
There is a small living space connecting these two rooms. And a nice sized kitchen!
-2 bathrooms. Fresh towels and basic bathroom toiletries included. Washer/Dryer are located in second bathroom with Detergent etc complimentary.
- Full kitchen with dish washer, microwave, electric stovetop oven, coffee maker, dishes and cookware etc.
- Dining area
- Desk and wifi
- Enclosed yard/dog pen outside the house. Dogs must stay in the pen or on a leash outside. Unleashed dogs can easily scare the horses into running through a fence.
- The horse pen is large enough for several horses and has an automatic water. If you need feed we can help organize that separately. Book your horses as pets- ($20/head)
- There’s a large outdoor arena right outside the house with a round pen and barrels etc. This can be used if scheduled ahead of time.
- There is a creek and river to the north that make great trail riding if scheduled ahead of time.
- There’s plenty of room to turn around any sized trailer. Trailer can be parked right outside the house.
We are located on Rocky Mountain Front with an abundance of Big Sky adventures all around. The Sun River borders the north end of our property where fishing and hiking is welcome. A hunting day-trip to the Bob Marshall is within range, or take off to Glacier National Park- its about a 2 hour drive. If you’re looking for some history check out the First Peoples’ Buffalo Jump, CM Russell Museum, Lewis & Clark interpretive center.

You will be staying on the far end of a working ranch, so there will be horses and cattle nearby. Probably some horse training taking place. Coyotes often howl at night and the weather can be unpredictable.
Guest access
Any size horse trailer can turn around by pulling down the driveway and into the pasture through a gate. You may park a trailer in front of the the house. There is parking for 4 vehicles.
Other things to note
If you have HORSES please let us know. We have 1.5 acre pen that is 3 board red fence next to the house. Also other options available upon request.
