Beachfront Cottage with Spectacular Ocean Views TOP RATED

Nestled amongst the greenery above the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sits the beautiful cottage aptly named Beside The Pointe. The quietness is deafening, the ocean view in front of you is pure ecstasy, and the sunset embraces you as it disappears into the water.

Between Palmetto Point and Savannah Sound, a mile off the main highway thru a greenery-lined track road sits your tranquil paradise, a perfect hideaway for honeymooners.

A private beach and the Caribbean sea are right below you down a flight of steps.

The owners live next door if you need them, but you won't see them if you don't want to.

Food stores and restaurants are a few miles away, close, yet far enough away from your quietness. There is excellent new oceanfront restaurant in Savannah Sound, about eight minutes away by car, called Fishbone Beach Bar and Grill, which is open year-round.

Ten Bay Beach, a beautiful mile-long pristine beach, is just a mile away.

Governors Harbour, the main town on the island, is just 15 minutes by car from the property. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won’t want to miss it.

Relax in central air comfort with DirectTV and WIFI. Enjoy the quietness and spectacular views.

We have 4 sets of snorkel gear in a variety of sizes, an assortment of hand fishing lines with gear, 2 single kayaks, beach chairs, beach umbrella, a cooler, outdoor shower and a gas grill. There's also a stackable washer and dryer. We just installed a brand new generator to keep the house running and our guests comfortable during power outages. There is a back-up water supply as well.

For stays longer than 10 nights you get 1 free weekly cleaning.

Even Better than expected!
Having seen the images and read the reviews we knew we were going somewhere nice but none of that does this place justice. It is super clean inside the cottage with everything we needed for our almost 2 weeks stay and we had the whole beach/bay to ourselves! The view is truly amazing and the water is shallow very far out so it was great for walking in and swimming (with water shoes for the rocky shore). Screened in porch is great! The owners of the property that live right next door are so friendly and kind. They have put much work into the upkeep of their place and gardens to make this feel like home away from home for the guests. They were very helpful and informative whenever we had questions or wanted their recommendations of what was close by. I loved the lush bath towels and great set of pots and pans for preparing our own meals. Those were some things that were above and beyond what was expected at a vacation rental cottage. :) Thanks again for a great vacation!

What a stunning location.
Sharon and Keith have provided an excellent retreat in the most beautiful location. Sit over looking the bay for breakfast or an evening drink. Steps lead down to the small private beach with loungers and kayaks. The wonderful and interesting gardens are a treat to wander through. Thanks Sharon and Keith for a great holiday, we would both love to return!

Outstanding Honeymoon Vacation!
We couldn't have asked for a better location, experience, or hosts for our week long honeymoon. Our hosts, Keith and Sharon, were friendly, helpful, and added to a very pleasant experience. They even shared avocados from their garden! Eleuthera is just as remote as we thought it would be, but it was a lot of fun to explore and experience. Words of wisdom... International flights out of Miami close out THIRTY MINUTES prior to departure time. Our incoming flight from Dallas was a little late due to mechanical issues, but we got to the Eleuthera gate about 18 minutes prior to departure time and the flight had already been closed out. So, if you're flying into Eleuthera from Miami - make sure you get to the gate well enough in advance in order to not miss your flight. Be prepared for the "no see ums"... We thought, "Oh, no big deal" - DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE! The no see ums will EAT YOU ALIVE! My wife was bitten quite a bit on her legs the first night at dinner and she still had marks and sores on her legs well after we were back in the states. My advice - BUG SPRAY, BUG SPRAY, BUG SPRAY!!! When you think you're covered, use a little bit more! But... other than those two lessons learned - this was an outstanding vacation. I've stayed in a number of VRBO rentals and NONE of them were as great as Beside the Pointe. Great communication stateside with the property managers prior to our departure and I can't say more about the positive experience with Keith and Sharon while staying at Beside the Pointe. We can't wait to go back!!!

The cottage was immaculate. Pictures don’t do it justice. Keith and Sharon are wonderful hosts. Very clean cottage with all the amenities you need. We grilled at the cottage a few nights and had everything we needed. Very centrally located about mid island. About 2 miles from groceries and only a few minutes from island farms. Beach below the cottage is very private, clean and great water. Very close to ten bay beach which we enjoyed a few times. We kind of did our own thing but the suggestions Keith made for groceries, restaurants etc. were spot on. The garden and grounds on the property were outstanding for an island that’s basically a rock. Would definitely recommend and stay again

This colorful cottage by the sea was amazing. My wife and I had a great time and an unforgettable week. The owners Keith and Sharon were great and had some helpful tips during our stay. We saw turtles, rays, sharks, and much more. Words can’t express our time on Eleuthera and Keith and Sharon only made it that much more enjoyable (fresh frozen mangoes and homemade mango ice cream)😁the cottage is also equipped with all you need ( towels beach towels blender cooler chairs linen grill). Highly recommend!!!!!

A Vacation That Dreams Are Made From
We are from California and needed a tranquil vacation. BESIDE THE POINTE takes your breath away as soon as you enter the property. The lush tropical landscape filled with native orchids, fruit trees, assorted palms, pineapples, bananas, holistic plants, and bougainvilleas of every color are a jaw dropper. When you arrive at the cottage the view of the cove is overwhelming. The cottage has everything you can possibly want for comfort. Towels are fluffy and the bed, oh so comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils too. There is a screened porch to sit and admire the water. The very private beach gives way to exploring the cove and its sea life. Your hosts are great ambassadors for Eleuthera. They will make your stay a memorable one if you choose to ask them questions. A car is necessary to get around. You won't be disappointed.

Surpassed our expectations!
We spent a wonderful week at Beside the Pointe cottage. Everything was as promised and more. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed literally(we cooked in a lot). They even supplied gear for exploring the island, like kayaks, snorkel gear, floats, beach chairs etc. The property is immaculate and so beautiful, from the very private entrance and drive to all the plantings to the steps down to the beach. Simply amazing! Keith and Sharon were wonderful hosts who were there when you needed them, otherwise you never knew they were around. Keith also set up jeep rental which made it so easy and stress free. We spent time everyday on the beach right there at the cottage, never saw a soul. We also really loved Kemps Creek and Ten Bay, just minutes away. We explored many other remote beaches with the guidance of an especially good Beach book. Luckily the cottage is centrally located on the island so each day you can head off in one direction or the other. I would bring bug spray, skin so soft ,and 2 pair of water shoes(we wore out a pair each.) We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed Beside the Pointe. We are already looking at dates for our next trip!!! --Favorite grocery... Cost Cutter in Savannah Sound (maybe 10 minutes away) by far the best --Favorite bakery.... Govenors Harbor Bakery --Go to Govenors Harbor fish fry on Friday night --Eat lunch at Pammies in GH.... local establishment... best food /best price Cracked conch with plantains and peas-and-rice ---Pizza at Mate and Jenny's is very good....

Couldn't be better
Everything about this place was wonderful. The location with your own private cove, the proximity to many beaches, the nearby settlements for access to groceries, and above all the kindness and helpfulness of the Culmers. They go out of their way to see to it that you are comfortable and have everything you need to make your trip enjoyable. They are available to help with any questions but yet see to it that you have all the privacy you need. We snorkeled all around Lutra and found our cove to be one of the best places. Kieth will tell you the best spots. At the end of a long day of exploring it's like you get to go home to your own private little house in the woods.

Absolutely Stunning View
My wife and I spent 8 wonderful days here and felt like it wasn't enough. The house was beautiful and exactly as described. Loved the color and decorations. Very clean and well kept. The bed was firm and comfortable. There is an outdoor shower that we discovered only a few days before we left. But I did use it. It was wonderful. We spent the majority of the time sitting on the porch looking at the absolutely stunning view of the bay. A bit of a walk down the stairs to the beach, not difficult but the calm Caribbean water was wonderful and worth it. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. Keith was right next door, but rarely saw him. When we did, he was a pleasure to chat with. He always made sure we had everything we needed. Keith has such a love for gardening. We walked down along his garden admiring all the plants. Tomatoes, papayas, pineapples, limes, coco plums, coconuts and the beautiful flowers. He even offered us some of the coconuts. It was nice driving to and from the house on the well kept drive and looking at all the beautiful care he put into the property. Every time we came back to the house, I was just in awe of the view. The house is centrally located in the middle of the island. Which was good for traveling to either end, and we traveled the entire island. Because of the time of year we did take a 5 minute ride to Ten Bay beach a couple times to watch the beautiful sunsets. Governor's Harbour is about a 15 to 20 minute ride to the north. Very nice town. There's a terrific little grocery store just 5 minutes to the south. And you have to visit 'The Ocean Hole' to the south past Tarpum Bay. And bring bread to feed the fish. A previous guest graciously left a beach guide book. Thank you for that. The roads, or should I say paths to these beaches were quite an adventure. A SUV is recommended. We would have never found all the stunning beaches if not for this book and we visited 33 of them! Each was a little different. Some small, some a little rocky, some that went on for miles. All of the beaches we did find were absolutely amazing and the majority of them completely deserted. We felt like we had the island and these beaches all to ourselves. Keith, thank you for allowing us to stay at your 'Beside the Pointe' home. The house and island was Absolutely Stunning. Matt & Crista Saugerties, NY

Simply Perfect!
We stayed 10 days at the Hillside Cottage. Keith and Sharon are so warm and welcoming, they made us feel like family. The drive up to the cottage is gorgeous, Keith's love for gardening is apparent everywhere. The cottage itself is clean and well appointed, with a comfy King size bed and central air. The beach is very private, with a combination of coral and sandy spots. Gorgeous! If you stay here, I highly recommend to walk all the way down to the left side of the beach and snorkel along the coral wall. It was one of the best snorkels I've ever been on. We saw huge crab, and a little octopus on the underside of the cliffs along with a huge variety of colorful reef fish. Two kayaks come with the house and we used them daily to fish off of. The fishing was excellent, especially to the right of the bay. We ate a lot of grouper and snapper! Delicious! This was my third time back to the island and I have to say, this was the best place I have stayed at. I got choked up when we left! We will definitely be back! Karen and Tom

Wonderful Vacation and Hosts
My wife and I spent over 3 wonderful weeks at "Beside The Pointe". We were looking for an isolated get-away where we could celebrate my retirement and contemplate our next steps, and this was prefect! First of all, Keith and Sharon, the owners, were so kind and accommodating. Keith really went out of his way to make sure I had a well-functioning wifi which (unfortunately) was still a must for me. The cottage is small and clean and neat, with a great front porch looking over the wonderful bay. It was perfect! And wait till you see Keith's garden and fruit trees - his "labor of love"! Most important, the cottage itself is situated on a bluff which offers a spectacular view of Kemp's Bay. We had this bay entirely to ourselves! Our hosts have their own home next door, but we rarely saw them and other than that there is no one even close. The beach access is a bit rocky, but at low tide it is normally OK. But what was so special - apart from the seclusion - was that about 10 meters out from shore you were in about a meter or so of crystal clear water with a soft sandy bottom that stretched for over a mile to each side of the bay. Moreover, the cottage is on the Caribbean side, so it is normally very clam - sometimes almost like a sheet of glass. My wife and I love to explore, so the location of the cottage was another plus. It is close to the middle of this long island, convenient to go either direction. There was a brand new little grocery store just 2.5 miles to the South which made quick pick-ups convenient. And about 9 miles to the North is Governor's Harbor - a quaint little village with a couple good restaurants, especially (for us) Tippys and The Buccaneer. But here's the main point: we have traveled to most of the islands in the Caribbean and none - repeat, none - can compare to Eleuthera when it comes to BEAUTIFUL BEACHES. So most of the time we explored, and we could hardly believe our eyes. From North to South the beaches are absolutely stunning, and often not easy to reach. (You must have a car, preferably an SUV.) A guide, "The Beaches of Eleuthera", was left in the cottage as a gift by former grateful guests and was a big help. But even if you just try to visit all the beaches called out on the Eleuthera map, you will have your hands full. The only negative was unrelated to the cottage - it was the scarcity and very high cost of quality food. You also must buy drinking water. Everything, even fruit, is imported, so expect high costs
