This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. We're located just 30 minutes outside Duluth, MN, but when you're here you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. While you're here you'll have access to our enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior. The beach is a 15-minute walk from the cabin, and is absolutely stunning.

Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin:
- The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets.
- There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road.
- Please watch this 4-minute tour video before reserving this cabin. The video will hopefully help give you a sense of what the cabin is like so you can decide if it's a good fit for you before you make a reservation: https://youtu.be/KJ7tWujhNTo

A Peaceful Retreat at Shalom Cabin
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shalom Cabin at Camp Amnicon, and we can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we felt a warm welcome from the camp staff and an overwhelming sense of tranquility. The cabin itself is beautifully situated, surrounded by stunning natural scenery. It was cozy and clean, providing all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We appreciated the cabin's simplicity, with all the essential amenities that made our stay comfortable. One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying the outdoor space. The views are breathtaking, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and canoeing the Amnicon River, as well as simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We also appreciated the no-contact check-in and check-out process, which made our experience even smoother and more relaxing. Overall, our time at Camp Amnicon was incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. Whether you're looking for a quiet retreat or a place to connect with nature, Shalom Cabin is an ideal choice. We can’t wait to return for another stay!

Cabin was just what we needed- peaceful area - outhouse light from inside cabin was a helpful touch—quick response from staff with questions- outhouse was a bit stinky and wish the fridge was bigger but it was a great stay can’t wait to go back!

My dog and I stayed here for two nights. The rustic cabin had a very comfortable bed and I had everything that I needed. Located close to the area I wanted to explore. We walked to Lake Superior from the cabin.

Quiet and restful, girls getaway
We had a great stay! The staff was kind and welcoming. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need for an overnight or three stay. Use of the lodge bathroom was helpful for showers, etc. I loved having the drinking water in the cabin to refill water bottles. Only minor challenge is there is a bit of a walk to this cabin from the parking area. I'm recovering from heel surgery and I did not see information about the distance in the VRBO listing, but the director said it was listed on their website. Walked slow and watched my steps on the gravel path to the door. There were plenty of lights, including a motion sensor on the path halfway to the cabin, and a light switch inside the cottage to the outhouse heater and light! The staff has made thoughtful additions to make the stay comfortable. We made it work! We had a great time and were very relaxed during our two night stay.

Kitchen Details
Kitchen is poorly supplied with utensils. We arrived and found a few knives, no spoons, 3 forks. Also no mixing bowls. 4 plates, 4 bowls for a cabin that has bed space for 7 people. All else was very nice. Glad to be there!

Great getaway
Staying at Amnicon allowed my kids to have a taste of camping but still able to sleep in a bed. We used the cabin as a base and did day trips around the north shore. The camp was quiet and clean. We had a great trip.

Great, affordable stay, able to disconnect while also visiting sites.
This worked perfect for our family and our stay, especially with our hound along for the ride. We’d like to return in the summer months to better be able to explore the trails. The one difficulty was the lack of heater in the cabin necessitating use of space heaters. While the cabin remained warm enough I was under the impression there was more centralized heating. Other than that we had no issues and really enjoyed our stay!

Just what we needed
It was a cozy and peaceful stay once we got the heat situation figured out. The contact person was super attentive and took care of what we needed. It was rustic but with nice amenities. Whoever thought to put a heater in the outhouse that you could turn on from inside is genius! It was so nice having the sauna available too. The walking trails were nice. And we appreciate being able to have our dog with us.

We enjoyed our stay in this rustic cabin. There was plenty of space for all 5 of us and it was clean. The camp is nice and quiet. It's located at the end of a long dirt road, which we did not know, but it worked out.

Comfortable and Family Friendly
We wanted space close to Duluth and the North Shore but also wanted to rent a cabin. This location gave us all of that along with its own amenities - beach on Lake Superior, some new hiking trails and proximity to Duluth and all of its attractions. Also, very affordable, clean and just as described.

Great Quiet Location, Needs A Little Improvement
The road coming in is a lengthy slow drive over very rumbly graded dirt road even with the snow. Other than that the location is great, not far from Downtown Duluth but quiet, minimally used woods, and great trails to the river and to the Lake. The photos for cabins are just a little bit deceiving as they are closer together than they seem on photos or in the video. There was an issue with heater in the cabin that was booked but host was great at alerting us ahead of time and giving acceptable alternative options. When first arrived we had a question about outhouse usage and it was very quickly answered. I love that we had the basic privacy like you would a campground where you see others but no one is bothering you or feeling as if a host or caretaker is on their toes with observing you. The children loved the ability to walk out of the cabin straight into the woods so we could explore and play. There are two reasons I would overall rate a 3: 1) The smoke/carbon monoxide detector randomly went off upon waking early in the morning the first night, beeping and yelling fire. We had not even been awake long enough to start breakfast and there was no reason for it to go off. It was hardwired into the wall and I had to remove the plug and battery to get it to stop. Several attempts throughout the day and the next day left it still doing the same thing. I did contact host through the app to let them know and that we did not need anything but I unplugged it and asked the possible reason it had an issue. Because this is a one room cabin and heated by propane fireplace, adding to that having children; I found it to be restless sleep due to worrying anything possibly getting close to fireplace overnight and not having a working smoke detector. I wish staff would have gotten back to me with at least assurance all would be fine. 2) The outhouse is actually a five gallon bucket rather than dug in and with 5 total staying for two nights it got more than halfway quickly. It became unpleasant to use the outhouse quickly once the bucket started filling up. There is a lodge with flushing toilets, however even a fairly short walk up hill in the winter to get to the lodge to use the bathroom at 3am is fairly daunting, especially to get to the front shoveled path is longer still to walk when needing a toilet. Better attention to an issue and emptying any outhouse bucket with more than 2 guests more often (1x per day at least) would leave us having rated a 5.
