My husband and I spent a wonderful three days in Springfield immersed in Lincoln history. The Carpenter Street Hotel was in a perfect location - just a few blocks from the Capitol, Lincoln Library & Museum, and home. Breakfast was simple and good. Our room was big and comfortable. We loved having a bathtub to soak in after walking all day long!

Do not stay here. My room had stains on the carpet, sheets, and curtains and dirt splattered on the walls. In general, everything just looked and felt dirty. There was a guy in the parking lot in an old SUV smoking a cigarette with something orange covering part of his front windshield. He was there for a long time even after I told the person checking me in. Sketchy. I was in the room long enough to check the sheets and find stains and find another hotel room - so about 20 minutes. When I went to the front desk to tell them I was dissatisfied, checking out, and wanted a refund, they refused because I was in the room too long. What?!? Like I said, do not stay here.

The property itself served its purpose. When we arrived, the check in parking area was blocked by the hotel van and two other cars. The limited choices at breakfast caused us to go elsewhere. Hotel is right across street from hospital. We were surprised we did not hear any sirens during the night.

The property was very good. My room was very clean and and the room amenities were also good. The fitness center was clean and I had no issues. The only complaint was that there is no on site restaurant and none nearby. Important because local fast food and pizza places close at 3:00 PM, so the only option was a dine in facility.
