Discover Shenandoah Valley’s unique and secluded get-away, "The Bougie Bunker." Built by a prepper, the home boasts some very distinct characteristics. The home includes one-of-a-kind local art, homey furnishings and décor, well-equipped kitchen, complete with skylights for natural lighting. Just minutes from Luray and only two hours from DC. Plenty of room to stretch your legs and rest your mind on 45 mountain acres with spectacular views, plenty of wildlife, and endless hiking opportunities.

The Bougie Bunker is located in the Shenandoah Valley, with the Shenandoah National Park visible from the property and just a short drive for hiking and outdoor adventures.

We are just 10 miles from Luray, with its widely recognized Luray Caverns. The town also offers restaurants, shopping, galleries, a movie theater, plus events and festivals, all on a scenic historic main street.

This area of Virginia is renowned for year-round outdoor activities and adventures. Summer is for hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, golfing, and simply strolling along a nearby main street and window shopping. Guests must have access to a vehicle to reach the Bougie Bunker.

Please be advised this is a mountainous property. The main roads are paved but the private road on the property is hard-packed gravel. You may experience minor ruts, steep inclines and rough terrain. Most front wheel drive vehicles have no trouble accessing the property as long as you drive safely and slowly. During the inclement weather of the winter season such as snow or ice you may need 4 wheel drive or tire chains to get up to the property. We also recommend Travel Insurance during winter months.

Please note that we do not give refunds for road conditions that are out of our control. We recommend a 4 wheeled drive vehicle or a truck to access this property during the winter season.

Please note that due to the remoteness of this bunker, the cellular Wifi can at times be limited, slow, and/or intermittent. We are able to get Verizon cellular and data service on our phones pretty well most of the time in and out of the property. In the mountains, nature, books, your friends, and your family are your entertainment!

Super nice mountain vacation!
Really enjoyed the time here. It was clean, had everything we needed, comfy beds, and lots of lovely aesthetic touches. You're just remote enough to feel alone but close enough to civilization to be convenient. The location is great so close to the different caverns and all the hikes at Skyline Drive. We would definitely return.

Couldn't be happier with our pick. House was tucked away and private, very unique. Close to downtown luray. Had dinner at chop house bistro first night. Visited luray caverns next day. Grabbed sandwiches at west main market. The property is amazing. The home is even better. Views are incredible. Owners were very responsive. I'd definitely stay again. definitely visit again.

The property is amazing in all ways. Not only has the host thought of everything (smores kit, towels for the hot tub, interests in the area, corn hole, horseshoes, walking trails, board games, card games, toiletries, etc), the views & peacefulness were outstanding. We truly enjoyed the area for our son's 1/2 marathon in the Shenandoah. Great location for some much-needed family time.

My teen daughter and I had an amazing time at the BB! What a unique experience! You are fantastically tucked away, in the woods, surrounded by fresh air and wildlife. We had a momma and her two twin /baby deer visit often. Even had some visits by (i think) a ground hog and a fox! BB had EVERYTHING! Super cute small gifts left by the owners! Bonfire and smores! Highly reccomend! Not a place for loud parties...perfect for some peace and quiet.and bonding time! We stay at alot of VRBOS and this property wqs def a memorable one! Very cool! GLAMPING! Thanks to Kevin and Jamie....

Great Remote Get Away
This is a great property and host. We wanted a remote place to relax a bit and that’s what we got. There are places near enough at the bottom of the driveway (1/4-1/2 mile’ish) but nothing next to or above you. The views are of the mountain side across the little valley and relaxing. The inside is well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we need and the bed was very comfortable. Very clean. The hot tub is a bonus. The pictures are a very accurate description of the property. And the hosts were great. Very good communication. We had a great stay and would stay again for sure.

Great weekend getaway
My family and I had a great time at the bunker. It's absolutely a different experience than your average vacation home. The ambiance is nice a peaceful, plenty of land to explore, a hot tub and plenty of space for our family of 5. (note, we brought a toddler air mattress for our youngest however 2 kids could have fit in the lower bunk). The drive up is steep and bumpy, we made it up with a minivan and civic but if we stay again we'll rent a 4-wheel drive for peace of mind. Lastly, I had car trouble unrelated to the driveway... I'm just that lucky - however, Kevin and Jamie were beyond gracious, even gave us suggestions of tow companies and mechanics to try. We really appreciated them understanding during the unforeseen, stressful circumstance. All in all we had a great time and the owners are wonderful. It's a unique experience our whole family enjoyed.

Lovely bunker
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Bougie Bunker for a few days recently. It was lovely. The land was quiet, no city noises, and the bunker itself was spotless. Great place if you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the quiet of nature. If I were going by myself, I'd consider staying here again. I had a great time just sitting on the porch and taking in the beauty of nature. One thing to note--there was a very strong musty smell when we first entered the bunker. We were able to air it out by propping open the door and windows, but it took a few hours. The hosts were very responsive in communicating with us about it and I don't hold it against them or the property. It's an old concrete survival bunker, so it's more of a quirk. All this to say, if you are considering staying here, make sure you and the people staying with you don't have any lung or allergy issues that could make dealing with that mustiness difficult.

Prepper's Paradise with Extra Bougie
We wanted to stay somewhere in the Shenandoah forest for peak leaf season. We kinda waited until the last minute and found the Bougie Bunker by accident. I have a little bit of a prepper fantasy so the idea that someone built this thing for the apocalypse was appealing. The bunker was very secluded and super quiet. We didn't hear anything from inside. It was about 40 degrees in the morning and a little cooler overnight but the bunker was insulated just as you'd expect. The hosts left a little basket with smores stuff just as you walk in. Neat. TV had Netflix which we watched after playing some board games but tried to spend most of our time outside. We had trouble finding a trail on the property and were a little nervous about just walking through the woods. The only thing we'd have liked improved was a little guidance on how to walk on the 45 acres. Campfire was nice. Sitting on the adirondack chairs on the front porch drinking coffee and watching the trees light up was a highlight. Stargazing- saw more stars than anywhere we've been in the US. The coffee maker did Keurig pods and regular ground coffee. The hosts provided packets of Community Coffee which we drink at home. Thanks for a great bougie stay!

We stayed in the bougie bunker for 4 nights. The home has been beautifully updated, there was great attention to detail. Views were breathtaking. And the home is in close proximity to the areas attractions/ places to see etc. I will just add, that the cell service (for us) was very slow/ spotty, there was one good spot on the porch - otherwise we had to wait till we got to town to really connect/ call anyone.

Mountain Seclusion
This being our first escape to the Shenandoah Region we planned lots of outdoor adventures, from hiking the AT, river tubing, caverns, exploring quaint towns, and more. We were excited about the bunker, but nothing could have prepared us for the amazing experience. It’s nestled within the mountains and very secluded. We had a great time porch sittting and looking out on the mountains. The hosts do a wonderful job of making the bunker cozy and providing extras such as games, movies and s’mores for the fire pit. As much fun as we had exploring the region, we always looked forward to coming back to the bunker to relax. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Getaway Near Shenandoah!
We loved the unique house, and the proximity to Shenandoah National Park. We also enjoyed the fire pit, and the complementary S’mores kit. The house was extremely clean, and comfortable. I particularly liked the art work displayed. The kids loved playing horse shoes, and we all had a fun time playing Uno in the game area of the house. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience!

Amazing place for a family getaway!
We had a wonderful time at the bunker! The property is beautiful and most interesting place we stayed so far. Very clean and welcoming, more fun than we expected. The porch with a mountain view itself would be enough to call it a great place to relax and chill. Add to it a well prepared bone fire place for evenings, with sky full of stars above, and you may need nothing more. Perfect base to visit nearby National Park, Luray caverns and more. We loved it!

Nice Extended Weekend
We took the extended weekend to come down and check out the Luray Caverns. Some of the things that I liked about the property The view the seclusion how beautiful the inside of it was. I would recommend it to anybody who wants a nice getaway.
