Amazing Cozy Getaway!
Andrey was an amazing host and was very responsive. His cottage was a great cozy getaway on a small lake, with water toys available. He was very responsive to any questions I had and provided so many great recommendations for activities and food around the area. Highly recommend staying here for anyone looking to have a nice quiet weekend away!

A little slice of heaven
We had a lovely time at the cottage. The air was great, the drinking water excellent, the stars and the moon were enchanting, as were sunrise and the sunset. We patronized the local businesses and found all the people extremely friendly. Because of our age limitations we were unable to use the canoe, kayak or pedal boat. We were disappointed that we found the lake not good for swimming even at Centennial Park. Right in the middle of our stay there was a cold spell with the temperature going down to 5 degrees and we were freezing. We were able to contact Andrey and he came within a couple of hours, fixed the problem and brought a wonderful loaf of bread which his wife had just made. All was well until Wednesday before our departure when it was time to take our refuse to the dump. We left the cottage around 10 am, found the gate open with no one in sight. Soon a truck drove in with two men, and they were quite upset that we had 'trespassed'. When told why we were there, they informed us that the dump only opened at noon and closed at 4. We were also informed that the black garbage bags that were supplied were not acceptable, and that we would have to go to Yarker and buy Municipal bags at $3. each, and that we had to transfer our refuse into them and then return to the dump at noon. We were also told that it was the owner's responsibility to do this and that were indeed, as tourists, trespassing. HOWEVER, all in all we had a good time and very much enjoyed our stay.

Relaxation and Paddle Boarding
The cottage was cute and clean. Two beds were good, pullout couch was uncomfortable. The lake access was ok, somewhat challenging especially if there are mobility issues. We had a great time paddling the lake. Had a few furry friends come to visit, raccoon and bunny. It was nice to hear the loons. The area is very quiet and peaceful. We had an overall enjoyable time. The host was very responsive and helpful. Thanks again

We had to leave after one night, too hot
The good: fishing, water pressure, shower / toilet / kitchen / fridge all work as advertised, great BBQ grill too! The bad: there are pieces of rebar sticking out of the ground on the shore by the dock. Be careful as they are hard to see (unmarked) and you might trip and fall. The dock is in disrepair, the left hinge connecting the sections is broken and it is very wobbly. The stairs leading to the house are wooden and lack any slip protection on the surfaces. The house was not too clean, the surface of the dining table was sticky to touch and we discovered a towel under one of the bedsheets. The ugly: air conditioning is outright falsely advertised. The house did not have a functional AC when we arrived. The temperature inside was +27 C (81 F). We visited in August, so it was pretty warm outside. As I tried to rectify the situation, I discovered the AC unit. It was a small portable one with a pipe running into the window, not central AC. It did virtually nothing to cool the place down. We kept waking up during the night trying to move the unit around, but when there are three bedrooms and one tiny AC - it is simply not enough. Also it is loud. If you want peace and quiet - you get a loud underpowered humming AC instead and you neither hear nor enjoy the nature as a result. No one in our party enjoyed their time at this property. We packed up and left the next day. What was meant as a fantastic time at a cottage turned into a massive frustration.

Beautiful Cottage
Beautiful cottage lovely place to stay. Plenty of local places to go. Host gave us lots of info on things to do in the area. 30 min drive into Kingston for tour of Kingston Pen. Only thing is canā€™t go swimming off the dock and beach down the road not much better. Dock a little wobbly. Fishing was amazing. Must take garbage with you no biggie but no garbage bags included so need to bring your own. Also bugs are horrible after dark so bring bug spray, but that seems to everywhere this year .

Really enjoyed staying at Andreys place. I got all the information I needed in advance, the place was very clean, and beds comfortable. The place is exactly as listed and he was quick to respond to questions. Easy check in and out as well. If youā€™re going to cook, I might suggest bringing some kitchen items with you. Overall was a great stay!

One of the best cottages you can find near Toronto
I should thank the landlord's hospitality. The cottage was very clean and well organized with a wonderful view! You can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, relaxing beside the fire, and hiking in a beautiful and quiet trails. It is also very close to the local stores if you need anything. Andrey answers your messages very fast and it is very easy to communicate with the property manager. The cottage had a very easy access to the main roads and it is equipped with a very good heating system. Therefore, it is not only a perfect place for warm seasons, we are planning to have another vacation there in winter. If you need a private area with peace and quiet to relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature, I highly recommend this place!!

Perfect for relaxing
Andrey's place provided exactly the relaxing environment we very much needed. Beautifully quiet and incredibly calm, the cottage is right on the lake with only crickets and geese greeting you in the morning and sending you off in the evening. Fishing from the dock was also very nice and the perfect escape from city stress.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this tranquil cottage. My granddaughter, who is 3 yrs old, had a blast at her first time fishing off the dock. The fire at night and the beautiful starlit sky made for great evenings. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Time in quiet and beautiful place
We spent 4 days in this cottage and it was great: a quiet place with everything you need. We were able to canoe on the lake, teach our daughters how to make fire and discover 1001 islands. Our host was very kind and took pleasure in showing us the best places in the area. He was available whenever we needed him and listened to our needs. We recommend this place.

Quiet place far from everything!
Nice quiet place. Little bit far from Kingston and restaurants, although trips to downtown K worth it. Better if you bring your own food unless you donā€™t mind to drive 30 minutes. You will have to take your trash with you. Nice beach at centennial park, great for kids. Love the lake and our canoe rides. Lots of wildlife that leaves natural fertilizer on grass, mind where you are walking! šŸ˜„

Nice quiet cottage on a quiet lake
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage on Varty Lake. It was very quiet, the lake doesn't have a lot of cottages so there were only a few boats on the lake. It was a very relaxing stay.

Perfect city escape!
This cottage is absolutely heaven on earth! The property had so much room and is perfectly situated on the lake for a prime view of the moon rising! The cottage is cozy with all the amenities you could need and the little welcome gift was the sweetest touch ever! The side of the cottage that faces the lake is all window for a stunning view day or night! The wildlife is incredible with swans, beavers, ducks, geese, blue jays and robins. Sitting by the fire at night gave an awesome stargazing opportunity especially when we turned off the cottage lights! Walks along the quiet road are relaxing and peaceful. A short 10 minute drive to town is a great family run store for anything you might have forgotten. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Andrey for such a relaxing and peaceful long weekend.

Excellent host, comfortable beds!
Andrey is an excellent host! Always available, informative responses, kind details. Beds were so comfortable and the best bathroom shower we have encountered at a cottage. The shore was too reedy for us to swim, but we all enjoyed trips on the lake with the canoe. Outside front deck had comfy furniture and a superb view.
