We enjoyed our first visit to Dairy Cottage and would happily return again in the future. Joan was a lovely host and we enjoyed chatting on arrival and departure.
The cottage was well equipped and very pleasant to stay in. We found the beds to be particularly comfortable. The living room is large and you donāt feel as if you are all on top of each other, with space on the floor for children to play.
The back garden is large, really good for both playing in and also sitting reading enjoying the sounds of the countryside. You hear faint noise from the A75, but it is not annoying at all.
It is also nice to be able to see the sea from the property and to stroll around the grounds looking at the animals.
I would only highlight 2 things for awareness before staying. Both bathrooms are downstairs, so once you reach a certain age, you will have a short walk during the night ;) Also we found that the internet did not really work in the cottage. The wifi is boosted from the ownerās property a short distance away and doesnāt really penetrate the thick walls. Ideally you want to be out and about so itās not a big deal, but for kids itās good to just bear that in mind. When ours needed some downtime on their screens, they either sat outside if it was dry and warm enough, or in the car to get reception.
We were already familiar with the general area from previous breaks, but had not stayed in Dunragit before. It was lovely to visit the Glenwhan Gardens for the first time. From Dunragit, you can just āshimmyā across the A75 to start heading for Sandhead or Portpatrick, you donāt need to go through Stranraer.
All in all, a lovely cottage at a fair price thatās well worth a visit and we would happily return again.
