Very helpful staff and we greatly enjoyed having table tennis & billiards available. Excellent attractions nearby, mini train & pedalos in nearby park for kids; fantastic Kennedy castle grounds; Southern Upland Way great walk up coast from Portpatrick.

A step back in time to a better age.
Nothing has really changed in the 30 or so years I have stayed at the Castle but I keep going back. It needs some tlc but it has always needed it. The classic rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. It is not boutique, it is not luxury but there is just something about this place that makes it a joy to experience and it is the dining room and food. It is a throwback to a previous era and I am so glad the new owners have not changed it. Proper waiting staff who know what they are doing and get it right. A kitchen that is the same. The food is great. A dining experience with chandeliers and pristine white table cloths and the correct cutlery and set properly. Hot plates, sometimes too hot, as they continue to fry the egg at breakfast and delicious food. Keep it up. Until the next time, next month likely. Thank you.

The food in this places was terrible. Had evening meal and it was awful. Had breakfast. And the food was not cooked at all.sausges and bacon were practically raw. Decided not to eat breakfast on safety grounds.

A wonderful 4 night stay. The upgrade was fantastic and very welcoming. The room was very spacious and had a super view across the harbour. All staff were very friendly and professional. I look forward to staying again soon.

Nice friendly staff, hotel is dated but that’s about it, ate in the restaurant which was nice and enjoyed nice nights sleep and that’s the main thing, one thing I would say is I’d prefer a little shower gel instead of the soap provided but it’s not the end if the world.
