This was one of the best VRBO houses we stayed at. Great location, great house, great views, peaceful. Although we couldn't use them (due to weather) it was great to see the bicycles, and canoes. The kids liked the pool table downstairs. The kitchen was pretty and the coffee pod selections were very nice. Big thanks to our host.

Nice but...
The house and setting was beautiful. As it was on the water, we were expecting to spend a majority of our time playing in the lake. Worth noting this is on a bluff several steps down to the water meaning you need to carry kayaks up and down a lot of steps, which we did, but not sure average vacationer could manage. There is a rock ledge at water level and a dock, but rocks were slick, no beach, no ladder to climb in and out of water. Pretty to sit and enjoy, but not ideal for playing in the water. Lots of boat traffic very near to dock making water rough and not relaxing, certainly not kid friendly. For all the lake toys offered, we expected to use them at the property. We're lake people so we got along ok, but not sure the average vacationer would feel the same. There were lots of bikes and life jackets, along with yard toys and a great fire ring. The house was spacious with fully stocked kitchen. We might suggest clearing some space in the kitchen cabinets and bedroom closets for guests. The closets were full of owner's boxes, etc, and didn't have bars for hanging clothes or even room to put a suitcase. Also nice to have rugs in basement bedrooms, perhaps a mirror too - seemed bedrooms were lacking many basic bedroom creature comforts. Overall a great stay and would recommend.

Inside nice, outside be careful for large drop off cliff
Hi, I stayed at this location over spring break with my husband, son, in laws and my parents. The inside was nice. There was a very small tv on the main floor and there was a very weird sound control issue that you needed an app for:( Nice that there were lots of games for our son to play and space for everyone to sit. In the back yard there is a very big drop off towards the water. I would not bring small children to this location just because of this. Also the front steps has a railing on the side of the house but not on the front of the stairs. We had a bad fall from one of our parents because the thought they could do the stairs. I'd recommend another visible railing.

Idlewild review
Very impressive property and spectacular location. Grand home with large wrap around deck on a bluff overlooking Green bay. Wonderful recreation room, huge selection outdoor sports equipment, modern kitchen with grand great room. The only negatives were some housekeeping deficiencies and problems with the air conditioning which the host was very responsive to. I would recommend this property as a great place for family reunion which is what we enjoyed there. Door county offers so much for a vacationer with access to both Lake Michigan and calmer waters in Green bay.

Great location, subpar property manager
Beautiful home. It was mid winter when we arrived and the house was at 60 degrees. There was a strong breeze coming off the lake into the house and you could feel the cold air flowing into the house. My brother was first to arrive and called the number listed on the house manual but never received a response. Luckily, my family is handy and figured out the fireplace situation really well. The fireplace was confusing though because the blower fan doesn't turn on until the fireplace has been heated to a certain temperature, which left us initially guessing. I reached out the following day to the property manager via VRBO and she messaged back fairly quickly and gave her cell. I explained the situation in the message and surprisingly, the host was not apologetic whatsoever, and just say "contact me at this number, I won't miss your message". I then explained that the outside sun and fireplace running all day eventually heated the upstairs to a comfortable temperature. However, we booked the house to celebrate late Christmas and didn't get to use the main room for more than half the stay, which is ultimately the main excitement / best room of the house. Later that night, I messaged the property manager (the night before our check out) to see if there was any opportunity for a late check-out. Initially, my messages never went through to the cell number the property manager gave me. Then an hour or so later, I saw they were delivered, yet never received a response to my inquiry. Yes, the house is in a supreme location. Yes it is very well layed out and a great place for a family to have a getaway. But if you are going to charge the rates they charge at this house, you should be more accommodating, have a way to heat the home properly or have it heated prior to the guests arriving, and be more courteous / responsive to your guests.

Wonderful Getaway
If you are looking for seclusion with tons of amenities(kayaks, bikes, paddleboards, pool table, fishing supplies, games), this is the place for you! It is a bit of a drive to the popular attractions -- Peninsula State Park, Whitefish Dunes, Cave Point, etc which was fine for us since these were our "day trip" outings. We all want to come back again!
