Nice staff and overall clean. Not worth the price at all in the summer for the rooms. Stayed in an estate king for $1900 for 2 nights and while the room was spacious enough for 2 , there was a tiny tiny sink jutting out of the wall in the bathroom with mold in the grout and same with the shower area. The bathroom is outdated and needs updating and deep cleaning if those are the prices they’re going to be charging. I had family staying in another room and they noticed the same issues with mold in the grout in the shower. The beds are comfortable and were clean. I got overcharged and had to address it with concierge. If I didn’t catch that not sure I would have been refunded. There were Pros and cons here overall. I would consider looking to stay here if you’re trying to budget but would do so on the off season as prices are significantly less . It’s also about a 14 minute walk to the wharf area and parking is $45 to valet each night if you drive . Rooftop area was great . All the staff there were nice and friendly.

Not great or clean
Room smelled like Mould or cigarettes, couldn't figure out which, maybe both? AC in the room barely worked had it on full blast and the room was still like a sauna. AC unit had exposed wiring. Plaster starting to fall off on the walls, bed was clean, bathroom was clean. Carpet and window are was dirty. Understand its an old building but the standards aren't great for the price. Valet service was the best thing about the place.

Good location, but dilapidated rooms
We were so excited to stay in Newport. And although the Viking was in a great location… it was very dilapidated in the room. The bathroom was smaller than a tiny closet, and both AC units had to be restarted and fixed multiple times in ghe 4 days we were there. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. We are in Boston now, paying the same price, and our room is fantastic. So the contrast is pretty crazy

The hotel was very average. Definitely not a 4-5 star except for the outstanding hospitality of the staff! We had construction workers working under our room starting every morning at 8 o’clock so it was impossible to sleep it. They comped us a free breakfast, which was nice to have but I feel that they should have moved us or at least comped one night of the stay. Every staff member went out of their way to make eye contact with each of us and say good morning or hello every time.

From check in to check out the staff bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable. The Viking is a wonderful hotel. A highlight was the rooftop cafe with great food, service, and one of the best old fashioneds I’ve ever had. Shoutout to Jake the valet who kept a great attitude while running around in the pouring rain to get a bunch of cranky customers their cars. If there was one con the room was a bit dated with some rust around the fixtures, but no big deal.

This is our second visit to the Viking. The main areas of the hotel are very nice but the rooms need an upgrade. We were put in the basement level room and it was dark, hallway smelled like beer and noise from outside was an issue. The room was very dated. Bathroom door was almost impossible to open and close so we just left it open. It needs a refresh and rooms in the lower level should be discounted accordingly. Very walkable location and the staff did their best to remedy our issues, but We probably won’t stay there again in the future.

Short stay
Hotel staff was very friendly. Wait was a little long to check in. But front desk was thorough. Room was clean, ideal. Classic yet updated hotel without the stuffy feel. Great cafe across the street. Valet parking service was easy. Awesome location made it easy to walk to pier, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Adequate Yet Underwhelming
I recently stayed here in a family trip for 3 nights and was slightly underwhelmed. While it's a great location with a nice lobby and awesome roof top lounge, the rooms were very dated and very limited on space. For $700/night, I would hope for a little nicer accommodation and certainly to have my room serviced each day (which unfortunately it was not.)

Stayed here three times prior with no issues, this most recent stay was average at best. Hotel appears to be understaffed everywhere except the car valet service. Waiting for simple items such as 1/2 dozen oysters took upwards of 15 minutes, tacos took 20 minutes, not good service for the menu price they charged.
