The Surroundings
Admire beautiful lake views from every direction, where the mountain line is visible, and the trout can be seen from the balcony of this beautiful waterfront property at the Great Lake, Tasmania. This property is drenched in sunlight all day with beautiful sunsets to be enjoyed.
Whether you are a weekend warrior, fisher, hunter, aurora hunter or want to get away to the
great outdoors, this home will suit you!
The best part about this home is its' location! From here you have ultimate access to some of the best fly fishing and scenery in Tasmania!
The area is studded with alpine tarns formed by glacial action between 8,000 and 20,000 years ago. Lunettes (alpine sand dunes) near Lake Augusta formed after the last glacial period. These are the only alpine lunettes in Australia!
Deer, wombats, spotted-tail quolls, wallabies, ringtail possums and long-nosed potoroos can be seen by careful observers in the evening but during day there is plenty of birdlife including raucous yellow-tailed black cockatoos and majestic Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagles.
Reptiles abound in the low scrub. Be on the lookout for mountain dragons, snow skinks and snakes.
As well as introduced trout, the lakes support a diverse array of aquatic invertebrate fauna with many unique and endemic species, such as the mountain shrimp and the burrowing crayfish.
Tods Corner / Great Lake is the perfect spot to watch the Southern Hemisphere’s finest light show – the dancing colours of the Southern Lights, aka the Aurora Australis. Many describe these natural phenomena as a dance of lights across the sky and a memory that will last a lifetime.
Peace and tranquillity await your arrival.
