Accommodation In Tsuen Wan\n
Want to live like a local in Hong Kong? Tsuen Wan maintains a big city feel without the crowds, with plenty of markets and malls, fantastic restaurants and out-of-the-way nature experiences too. It’s in the New Territories part of the city, which has historic walled villages and an eye-opening heritage trail. Book your Tseun Wan hotel with us for a slower pace and a side-serving of food and culture.
History and location
Just 17 km from Hong Kong Central, Tseun Wan sits opposite the island of Tsing Yi, across the Rambler Channel.
Things to do
Lido Beach, once one of HK’s most famous beaches, is now a relaxed beach perfect for sunbaking, walks and beach volleyball, - unfortunately, it’s closed for swimming. And it’s just nine minutes from Tseun Wan by car. Visit the Sam Tung Uk Museum, a 200-year-old walled village that preserves life in the 18th century and includes traditional Hakka homewares. Just a short bus ride from Tsuen Wan, Shing Mun Reservoir is a great place for a hike, with woods filled with many different types of trees and plenty of butterflies and birds.
The New Territories breaks up Hong Kong’s high-rises and cityscapes with forests and sweeping mountain views. The Yuen Yuen Institute is a complex of temples dedicated to Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Kat Hing Wai is a walled village that has been around for over 500 years, since the days of the Ming Dynasty. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum has 12 exhibition galleries showcasing the arts and history of Hong Kong and you can take in a number of sights on the Ping Shan Heritage Trail, including Hong Kong’s oldest pagoda: Tsui Shing Lau.
Shopping and dining
Tseun Wan has some thriving shopping malls for those after a souvenir or two. New Town Mall has boutique fashion, vending machines full of toys, quirky clothing and cool accessories. CityWalk is an outdoor shopping complex with lovely green gardens. Discovery Park Hong Kong is both a residential development and ‘shopping park’ with heaps of shops and restaurants and a scenic tropical theme. Check out the Tseun Wan wet markets or San Tseun Street for heaps of fresh fruit and veg.
Grab a coffee in one of Tseun Wan’s relaxed local cafes, or head out for some sushi, Italian or Thai.
