Book your Vadodara holiday
Vadodara Holiday Packages
As one of the fastest-growing cities in India's westernmost state of Gujarat, Vadodara is home to ancient temples, peaceful parks and buckets of charm. From bubbling streetside curries to the enormous statue of Shiva in Sursagar Lake, this leafy city is a destination for both culture-lovers and foodies seeking an Indian getaway. Your Vadodara holiday awaits.
Things to Do in Vadodara
Four times the size of Buckingham Palace, Laxmi Vilas Palace is the city's largest and most iconic landmark. Be sure to check out Durbar Hall with its intricate Venetian mosaic floor, opulent chandeliers and Raja throne. To see more art, including some originals from celebrated Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma, head to the Maharaja Fatesingh Museum or the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery. Vadodara holidays should also include a day trip to Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can explore old temples, palaces and citadels.
If you're lucky enough to visit at the end of October, then throw on your most colourful silks and join the revellers at the Navratri Festival. Spread out over nine fun-filled days, this event combines music, food and dancing, all in celebration of the Hindu deity Durga—after all, honouring the Mother of the Universe is no small task.
Whatever your plans, three-wheeled rickshaws provide a cheap way to whiz around the city (and they’re sturdier than they sound!). But to really roll in style, check out Vadodra car hire options on Wotif. Spend your time on Vadodara packages the way you want!
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
Shoppers are in for a treat, as a huge selection of crafts, including hand-dyed textiles, wooden sculptures and local artworks, are sold curbside or at the local night markets. For more Western-style shopping, make a stop at Centre Square Mall, an enormous complex offering a selection of brand-name clothing and electronics.
After lightening your wallet shopping, fatten up with a sampler platter called a thali. It’s a lovely way to try out different soups, curries, rice, salads and sweet treats, all on one plate. Like most Indian cities, street stalls are found on every corner, and they offer a cheap way to devour local delicacies. All-you-can-eat Indian buffets are also a good option if you're new to Indian food, or if the confusing (and often humourous) menu translations are too hard to decipher.
Until recently, the sale of alcohol was prohibited throughout the state of Gujarat. While nightlife options are still limited, some of the swanky bars in 5-star hotels hold a liquor license. There are a handful of clubs in the city centre, but even those close by midnight. Vadodara is more suited to daytime exploring rather than night-time shenanigans—but you won't have to nurse any hangovers!
