The Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux is located only 30 seconds walk from the brightly coloured fishing boats bobbing in the natural little harbour of Bordeaux, on the northeast coast of Guernsey. The harbour is a popular spot for artists and photographers due to its natural beauty and gorgeous light as the sun rises. From here, you can pick up the coastal paths for a walk around this gorgeous part of Guernsey.
The ‘Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux’ is a small holiday complex with 7 apartments. Lihou is a duplex apartment (on two levels), typically with a Friday arrival day. The apartment is accessed via a flight of external stairs which leads to a small patio by the front door (at first floor level). The apartment has an 'upside-down' layout and so opening your front door takes you to the living room.
Lihou has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. It offers comfortable lounging, with TV, DvD player and a selection of games. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that should be needed (oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.
The bedrooms and the bathroom are downstairs. The master bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom is on the cosy side and so has one single bed (plus we can provide a travel cot for infants). It has a lovely travertine bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
Outside, there is a raised garden with picnic bench seating areas, which is shared by all the apartments. As there are only 7 properties at the Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux, with guests often out-and-about enjoying all that the island has to offer, it is usually nice and quiet. There is also a shared laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, which are free for guests to use. Good WiFi and free parking.
Being right next to a beach and the north coastal paths, plus Vale Castle only a short walk away, there is much to explore (the views from the castle are spectacular). The sheltered clear waters of Bordeaux make it an ideal place for a swim, particularly when the tide is in. Children will enjoy building sandcastles and looking for crabs in the rocky outcrops.
There is a good (and cheap) bus service close by, which will take you to St Peter Port and its VAT-free shopping, or you can pick up the circular-island route to head to the long stretches of sandy beaches at L’Ancresse and Pembroke, or onwards around the whole island. This is a great way to start exploring this beautiful island!
