Overall our stay was nice, the property was clean, in a safe area, and walkable to downtown. I purposely booked a room with a balcony and city view (it was extra to do this) and upon check in was given a ground floor room behind bushes. When I went back to the front desk and brought this up her reply was ‘Well you’re on the city view side and you have a patio’. I told her I booked a balcony on purpose and multiple times she told me I had a patio instead and there were no other rooms available. It wasn’t until I asked what the purpose of paying more for a balcony was if they just assign you as they want. Then she said she could switch me with someone who hadn’t checked in yet as long as we hadn’t touched anything in the room and had left it resellable and that she would have to check it. She did eventually move us to the 3rd floor with a balcony but I don’t understand why we weren’t assigned that in the beginning since the reservation clearly said balcony room. The front desk lady was not necessarily rude but was clearly annoyed I was asking for the room I paid for. It was a decent breakfast and we might stay there again but I’m hesitant after our check in issue. The kids were excited to finally stay on the ‘castle on the hill’ and LOVED the balcony. The city view was very nice at night as well.
